In general, we don’t moderate posts – except on the rare occasion that someone has used offensive language or made libellous allegations about named or identifiable individuals on our page. This October, unleash your creativity with our Pressed Flower Pumpkin Decorating Workshop! 🌸🎃

Ditch the messy carving tools and join local artist Lisa Howard, as she guides you through the process of decorating your pumpkin using pressed and dried seasonal flowers and plants.

Here are the details…
🎃 Saturday 24 October
🌸 Sessions are 10am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-4pm
🎃 All materials are provided
🌸 Your decorated pumpkin can last up to 9 months
🎃 Admission to the full site is included in your ticket price

📣 We’ve had a fantastic response to our Scarecrow Festival, but there’s still time to get involved and create your very own scarecrow for display here in Rufford's grounds.

🎵 This year’s theme is 'Rufford Rocks: pop stars and music legends', giving you the chance to bring some iconic singers, musicians and bands to life in scarecrow form!

🔨 Scarecrows need to be delivered to Rufford Old Hall by Monday 19 October, ready for installation.

🏏 Summer of Play – Enjoy an abundance of garden games and self-led activities. Enjoy cricket, rounders, and croquet and giant games like snakes and ladders and dominos.

🪆 House – Step into the world of childhood play with our brand-new Treasures of Victorian Play exhibition and try on parts of armour in the Great Hall.

🍰 Tea-room – Choose from a selection of savoury foods or something sweet and enjoy in the summer sunshine, sat outside in the cobbled courtyard.

📖 Second-hand bookshop – Pick up a brand-new read or a gift for a loved one. Don’t forget we also have a number of pin badges available to pick from too.

🔎 Garden and Woodland – Discover the dedicated area for nature play in the North Woods, go on a bug hunt or simply play hide and seek.

📣 This August take part in free historical fencing workshops here at Rufford.

🤺 Taking place on 7, 14, 18 and 24 August, 11.30am – 4pm, head to the Orchard Paddock to join in.

🤺 These 20-minute demonstrations are suitable for 5 – 13-year-olds and feature classic games like tag and capture the flag, which focus on the core objectives of fencing.

🤺 Please note that the participation numbers are limited per workshop and the workshops operate on a first come first served basis.

🏏 During your visit, get involved in more of our Summer of Play activities, including sports day style games, giant lawn games and woodland activities.

🦋 After a night of moth surveying by our specialist, you’ll get the opportunity to discover which species have been identified. It’s your chance to get up close and learn facts about these fascinating residents here at Rufford, as you hear all about their habits and habitats.

The team here at Rufford have been busy finalising our 2026 Christmas programme.

We know right now it’s all about the balmy weather, ice cream and BBQs, but we couldn’t wait to share the fantastic events that we have coming up this December.

🎅 Story time with Father Christmas – As you gather round with a drink and a homemade cookie, listen to a magical winter story read by Father Christmas. Take a photo and also receive a special gift too.

📚 Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol: A one-man performance with dinner – Experience an evening of seasonal celebrations and timeless storytelling in the Great Hall on Thursday 17 December. Begin with a delicious dinner before enjoying the performance.

🎁 Festive Breakfast with Father Christmas – Enjoy a special visit from the man himself as you tuck into a yummy breakfast. You’ll also receive a special gift too.

🥓 Classic Christmas Breakfast - Join us for a delicious Christmas breakfast on Friday 4 December. Father Christmas won't be joining us for our classic breakfast, so enjoy Rufford's Victorian tearoom dressed for Christmas in a relaxed atmosphere.

☀️ The summer holidays have arrived, and here at Rufford you can enjoy lots of activities in our Summer of Play!

🎉 Until 1 September (Fri-Tue only), enjoy jam-packed days of fun with your family and friends.

What will you do first?
🐍 Maybe you’ll roll the dice in a game of snakes and ladders before testing your skills with a game of cricket and croquet.
🤹‍♀️ Or perhaps you’ll grab a sports day kit box and try your hand at skipping and hula hooping.
🚲 How about riding about on two wheels with a balance bike or creating your very own work of art with our drawn on the lawn bags?

In the house discover our exhibition: Treasures of Victorian Play, a new display which explores how children played and learned during the 19th century.

🪵Visit us this weekend, as we’re joined by Red Rose Woodturners, and watch live demonstrations showcasing the craft of woodturning using hand-held tools on lathes.

🎁 As well as demonstrations, there’ll also be the chance to purchase some of these wonderful, handcrafted pieces over the two days, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June.

🪡 On Sunday 28 June, enjoy traditional lace making demonstrations in the Great Hall, which will take place 1-4pm.
