CONSERVATIVE COUNCILLORS DEMAND BETTER PLAYGROUND FACILITIES ACROSS WEST LANCASHIRE

At the Council meeting on Wednesday Conservative Councillors Norma Goodier and Katie Juckes spoke of the need for better playground facilities in West Lancashire, particularly in Tarleton, Appley Bridge and Wrightington.

Cllr Juckes stated, “In my ward, there are two council run play areas in Appley Bridge and Wrightington, both of which are old and poorly maintained with play equipment that is broken and removed due to health and safety concerns.”

The motion to improve facilities failed as it did not identify how to finance the work needed. With the correct due diligence and stewardship, the Conservative led administration will be taking action to improve facilities as soon as possible.

The Localism Act 2011 was brought in by Conservatives to give power to local communities, councillors and councils, which Labour opposed.

At Full Council last night, the Conservative Councillors of WLBC voted against Labour’s planning delegation where councillors can no longer refer contentious applications to the committee for decisions.

In short: officers have authority to approve planning applications while Councillors powers have been reduced. Government legislation overrides the council’s will.

Labour’s contempt of the electorate proceeds with no shame.

Today, Labour, Reform and the Lib Dems refused to vote to scrap Inheritance Tax on family homes.

You worked for your home. You built it. Your children should inherit it, not the taxman.

We'll scrap Inheritance Tax on family homes and reverse Labour's Family Farm Tax and Family Business Tax.

When I joined Reform UK, I did so because I believed the Conservative Party had lost its way in government, and I wanted to help bring about change.

While Reform has had some successes in Lancashire, I have come to the view that, nationally, it remains primarily a party of protest rather than one preparing to govern.

Kemi Badenoch has been honest about the mistakes made by the last Conservative government and is working to renew the party around core Conservative principles: supporting enterprise, delivering efficient public services, controlling public spending responsibly and creating the conditions for economic growth.

For me, politics is about delivering results, not simply making a point. At a time of economic uncertainty and growing international challenges, Britain needs serious, responsible government.

That is why I have today joined the Conservative Party. I look forward to working with colleagues to serve the residents of West Lancashire and help rebuild a strong, principled Conservative Party.
