🚨 ST MARY CRAY MAJOR HOUSING DEVELOPMENT: JUST 1️⃣0️⃣ DAYS LEFT TO OBJECT

We have just 10 days left to object to plans to build 350 homes on farming land south of Crockenhill Road in St Mary Cray.

This development would fundamentally change the character of our area and cause irreversible damage to our precious green belt — and once it’s gone, it’s gone for good.

If you haven’t already, please submit your objection to Bromley Council — link in comments.

🗓️Deadline: 19/01/2026
📋 Application number: 25/05427/OUT

I will be formally objecting to these plans and will share my response on here.

Every single objection matters. Each one strengthens our case — so please share this widely and encourage your friends, family and neighbours to object too.

Everyone agrees that we need more homes. But there are over a million with planning permission that still haven’t been built. The government should start there, then focus on brownfield land.

They should leave our greenbelt alone.

In this week’s News Shopper, I write about two properly thought through Conservative Party policies that will make life better for people in Orpington: abolishing stamp duty and business rates.

Stamp duty is a bad tax. Getting rid of it will help young people get onto the housing ladder, growing families to move somewhere bigger, and older people who might want to downsize. Crucially, it will get the market moving again and free up much needed space.

As for business rates, they have doubled in some cases this year, and combined with the rise in NI, they are hurting our pubs and shops. Scrapping this tax will save many livelihoods and jobs.

Importantly, we have taken the time to form these policies after consulting with experts. And unlike other parties, we have fully costed them.

Inflation is up yet again and almost double compared to when the previous government left office. This will impact people here in Orpington through higher prices on everyday expenditure such as food, transport and rent.

This is a result of this government’s high tax, high borrowing and high spending approach. They should stop and rethink their damaging policies as they start their second year.
