This week, we were delighted to welcome our new Year 7 pupils into the Rhyddings family. It has been fantastic to see how well they have settled in, finding their feet, making new friends and becoming part of school life already.

At the end of their first day, our Year 11 pupils came out onto the corridors to give our new Year 7s a very special Rhyddings guard of honour and to congratulate them on completing their first day! 👏

A huge thank you to our Year 11 pupils, who came in ready, prepared and setting such a fantastic example for the year ahead.

Well done, Year 7 your Rhyddings journey has officially begun! 💙

A huge well done to all of our Year 11 pupils receiving their GCSE results today. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, effort and commitment you have shown throughout your time with us.

A big thank you also goes to our wonderful teachers and support staff for everything they have done to support and encourage our pupils along the way.

We wish every one of you the very best of luck as you take your next steps into sixth form, college, apprenticeships, employment and beyond.

Last Friday, our Year 9 and Year 10 Art students enjoyed an inspiring trip to Manchester to visit Ai Weiwei's Button Up! exhibition at Factory International.

Students were amazed by the scale of Ai Weiwei's work and were deeply moved by his powerful tribute to the 5,000 children who lost their lives in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. They were also fascinated by Surfing, after Hokusai, created from more than 1,800 individual LEGO pieces.

The group then visited The Whitworth Art Gallery to see Hokusai's iconic The Great Wave off Kanagawa on display.

Our students were a credit to the school throughout the day. They showed great curiosity, asked thoughtful questions and enjoyed discussing different cultures, history and colonialism on the journey home.

THE BIG COMMUNITY KINDNESS PICNIC

The Let's Be Foundation brought the community together for an unforgettable Kindness Picnic.

Over the past few months, volunteers from Rhyddings and The Hollins have worked alongside local care homes and community organisations to create a giant Kindness Picnic Blanket, supported by our resident artist, Banu Adam.

The project concluded with a wonderful community picnic at Gatty Park in Accrington, where pupils and members of the community came together to share food, friendship, and words of kindness. It was a fantastic celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the positive impact that small acts of kindness can have in bringing people together.

What a fantastic start to our Academic Awards Mornings! 🎉

This morning we celebrated our Year 7 pupils, with teachers nominating their Highest Achiever and Most Improved student in each subject. It was wonderful to recognise so many deserving pupils and to welcome their families into school to celebrate their success.

The ceremony was followed by coffee and cake with some very proud parents – a lovely opportunity to celebrate our pupils’ hard work and achievements together.

We’re looking forward to welcoming our Year 8 award winners tomorrow and Year 9 on Wednesday.

Year 11 Prom 2026

What a fantastic evening celebrating the end of an important chapter for our Year 11 students. It was wonderful to see everyone looking so smart and enjoying a well-deserved night with friends, staff and family.

We are incredibly proud of everything this year group has achieved and wish each and every one of them the very best as they take their next steps. Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening so special.

Congratulations, Class of 2026 we hope you have many happy memories to look back on.
