Bank Holiday! | Have a safe TRIP

Whether you’re leaving the south west or coming to visit, have a safe and enjoyable summer holiday road trip.

Follow the T.R.I.P. checks every driver needs to perform to keep themselves, their passengers and other road users safe.

TOP UP your fuel or battery, oil and screen wash
REST with planned stops of at least 15 minutes every two hours
INSPECT tyre pressure, tread depth and for cracks or tears before setting out
PREPARE for all weather conditions…it may be very hot, or we may have rain and thunderstorms

We’ll add that SPEED limits are there for your safety, they are not a target. Drive within the limit and to prevailing road, weather and traffic conditions. So, TRIPS: as easy to remember as TRIP.

Its GCSE results day!! A day of mixed emotions, trepidation but hopefully joy and success.

Some our officers are much much much nearer to this experience than I am but I still clearly recall that day back in the mid 90's and being a bit disappointed with my maths grade! Shortly followed by my first ever tooth filling an hour later. What I don't recall is having to work out what the heck a grade 9 is versus a grade 7 (all A's apparently!!). It was a simpler time back then.

There are a world of options out there so even if you don't quite get what you want, there will be other equally awesome things that you can do.

So from all of us here at Exmouth and Ottery police stations, we wish the former year 11 of Clyst Vale, Cranbrook, Kings and Exmouth all the best today.

Kindly leave our towns and public spaces intact when you finish partying 😉

Whaaaaaat!!!! Rain. How dare it rain. Does the sky not realise how nice its been not having to mow my lawn that bares more resemblance to Exmouth beach in colour, than the patch of green garden it should be.

Anyway. First rain in months means more than just a very imminent explosion of brambles and other frustrating weeds. It means the roads are really slippy. REALLY SLIPPY. Thats months of oil and other vehicular detritus thats built up and now all wet. And as if that was not bad enough, there are puddles. Some quite big ones.

Stay safe out there and if you ride a motorbike or have budget car tyres, take extra special care today.

Each to their own on this but I was quite enjoying the heat 😎

🔥 Avoid the use of barbecues and be careful with disposing of ci******es, especially in countryside locations – it’s tinder dry out there. Please take your litter home with you.

*Brampford Speke*

I have been out this morning and spoken to neighbours and other local residents. I can confirm that there are no outstanding persons in relation to this incident and that, whilst we keep an open mind, there is no risk to the public. We do retain a tiny police presence at the incident. I am very minded that this is not far from the completely unrelated incident a couple of years ago and certainly for those of you I have spoken to, its still fresh in your memories.
This also does not relate to the ongoing anti-social behaviour that we are work on.
If you have any concerns, please speak to the officer present or make contact with the Ottery St Mary Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Please can I just thank local residents for the welfare provision they have provided officers.
