The Summer Reading Challenge school leaderboard is extremely close again this week and the competition is hotting up as more children cross the finish line! It has been fantastic to see so many of you coming back to us having completed the challenge so WELL DONE to those of you who have finished!

If you haven't already done so, you have until Friday 4th September to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge to help your school out. All you need to do is pop into the library and speak to a member of staff to sign up. You have until Saturday 12th September to read six books in order to complete the challenge.

The top half of the school leaderboard has changed again since last week and is currently looking like this:

Digital Book Club title for September is Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke and is available as e-audiobook only

"Natalie lives a traditional lifestyle and her followers are sick with envy. Her charming farmhouse on her working ranch is artfully cluttered, her husband is a handsome cowboy, her homemade sourdough boules are each more beautiful than the last. So what if there are nannies and producers and industrial-grade ovens behind the scenes? What her followers don’t know won’t hurt them.

Then, one morning, Natalie wakes up in a strange, horrible version of reality. Her home, her husband, her children are familiar, but something’s off. This isn't her perfect life, and she must escape, by any means possible"

The first of the month brings with it a fresh new theme for our National Year of Reading focus. As part of 'Scandalous September', we have put together a display of books available for loan, all of which involve both fiction and non-fiction scandalous stories.

Throughout Scandalous September, we would also love you to reveal to us what your bookish guilty pleasures are! Do you enjoy cosy whodunnits? Are sizzling Summer reads more your thing? Do you lose yourself in nostalgic teenage angst, vampires or magical worlds? Do you get engrossed in high energy thrillers? How about easy-read cliched romances or spine-tingling true crime? Do you always like to read the most popular books or do you shy away from following the crowd?

Whatever your guilty (or not-so-guilty) bookish pleasures, we want to hear all about them here at Oundle library! Simply write down what you enjoy reading on one of our top-secret notes and put it on our Scandalous September display board.

But don't worry...your secret is safe with us!

During the heatwave that was August, Oundle Crime found some relief in reading and they’ve come up with ten crime fiction novels they’d like to recommend.
Their reading theme was three-word titles, but there are others in the mix as well. Take a look at the books they enjoyed here: https://friendsofoundlelibrary.org.uk/book-reviews/
