Congratulations to Firefighter Nelson who last week completed her β€œApproved To Ride” course and now joins Padstow as the stations first female Firefighter. Jess is now able to respond to shouts with the crew as a development Firefighter, working towards becoming a fully competent Firefighter over the next three years.

πŸ“Ÿ Shout 12:21 Animal rescue - Yesterday the crew were tasked with rescuing a dog from a rabbit hole. Firefighters dug down to the dog, which had been stuck overnight, and safely returned him to his family. 🐢

πŸ“Ÿ Shout 21:59 two vehicle RTC. Last night we responded to a road traffic collision involving a car and a lorry. The crew worked with Cornwall Air Ambulance, paramedics and a first responder to free two of the occupants with cutting equipment. Both were safely extracted to ambulances.

Things are shaping up nicely for the Richard Bobek Memorial Trophy race at Padstow Rowing Club tomorrow night, Friday 22nd August.

The event is in memory of Richard Bobek, firefighter and avid rower who tragically lost his life at the young age of 41. He rowed with both Padstow and Port Isaac rowing clubs in the 90s.

Racing kicks off at 6:30pm with presentations at 7:30pm. The racing will be followed by BBQ, drinks and live music at the gig shed. All welcome.

This event will incorporate the communities from Richard's life in the form of Padstow Community Fire Station, St Columb Community Fire Station, Port Isaac Rowing Club and Rock Rowing Club.

Please come along and join the fun.

Paddles up and a moments silence at 6:30pm from the outer harbour wall.

Padstow rowing club invite our friends and community to join us for the πŸš£πŸ§‘β€πŸš’Richard Bobek Memorial Trophy event πŸ§‘β€πŸš’πŸš£

Richard was keen rower in the 1990s and joined both Padstow Rowing Club and Port Isaac Rowing Club. He was a firefighter who suffered trauma in the line of duty after attending the Castle n Dinas accident in 1995. He never recovered and tragically lost his life at the age of 41 years old.

In his memory, Port Isaac and Padstow would race each other to win his trophy, which was donated by St. Columb fire brigade. After a brief hiatus we are pleased to announce the reinstatement of this race in his memory.

Where: Padstow Rowing Club, Red Brick Building, Padstow

The racing will be followed by music and BBQ at the gig shed. We look forward to welcoming you.

Two shouts in the last 24 hours:

00:09 - Fire in the open. A crew attended a large bonfire in the back garden of a property in St Merryn. The fire was extinguished and advice given to the home owner.

18:40 - Car fire. A car well alight on the driveway of a property. Firefighters in breathing apparatus quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby out buildings and other vehicles.
