Blue Watch Torquay and Paignton would like to thank Mike Owen from DAF Trucks UK for bringing along a demonstrator tipper truck for us to have LGV familiarisation on.

Training like this is really beneficial for us as we get an opportunity to get hands on with the truck, identify hazards and use Mike’s expertise to give us a better understanding of this type of vehicle especially as they evolve with all new modern features. This in turn will enable us to be best practiced when we attend incidents involving LGV’s.

We would like to thank Mike for giving up his time to come and deliver this important training and we look forward to working with him closely in the future to further enhance our knowledge.

We have been experiencing a high number of calls following the heavy rain in Devon and Somerset earlier today, with more rain expected to sweep across the area this evening.

Water levels are likely to keep rising, with roads becoming flooded. Please do not drive through floodwater, especially where warning signs have been put in place.

Just 30cm of flowing water can make a vehicle stuck or even sweep it away.

🚨Amazing news for our community 🚨

Yesterday we had a community defibrillator fitted outside our fire station on Cecil road.
Torquay Fire Station have been working tirelessly to raise money for their community defibrillator project and as part of this they have generously donated this defib to our community.
Thanks to all those that have so generously donated to this charity to make this possible and a special thanks to Torquay fire station for their commitment to this project.

Hopefully it will never be needed but if it is required it is accessible to all and in an emergency you may be directed to collect this defib by the ambulance call operator who will give you a code to access it.

Although not necessary as defibs are simple to use, here’s a useful link on what a Defibrillator is and how to use one.
