To parents of teenagers frequenting Beacon Field in the evenings between 8pm and 12pm, we kindly remind you that our CCTV system is in operation. The individuals responsible for the malicious damage to banners at 10:30pm last Friday evening have been recorded, as have the group causing damage to the play equipment. We invite the young people to share their ideas on what amenities they would like to see in Peasedown to keep them engaged and interested. The Parish Council is willing to collaborate with other groups to support these initiatives and prevent boredom from leading to destructive behavior. As we all recall, this stage of life can be challenging for young people. If you have suggestions, please contact us at [email protected]. We are open to considering all proposals.

Update on the situation with anti-social behaviour around the village

For those of you impacted or concerned by the recent spate of anti-social behaviour Peasedown St John is facing please take a moment to look at this:

Any information anyone has, please send it to the local policing team. By working together as a community we can stop more vulnerable members of our community being targeted and make our village a safer place for all. All of this behaviour is costing each and everyone of you money, in respect of your Council Tax. Please don't just accept this as a norm, report any and all incidents because together they provide a picture that means action needs to be taken.

Proposed transport improvements in Peasedown St John will make it safer and easier to walk, wheel, cycle and use public transport.

The plans for the Ashgrove/Keel's Hill area include a new zebra crossing, improved pedestrian crossing facilities, upgraded bus stops with real-time information, cycle parking, a bike repair station and measures to help reduce vehicle speeds.

The plan is to install this winter, subject to a statutory notice period running from 13 August to 3 September 2026. View the proposals and share your comments at: www.bathnes.gov.uk/somer-valley-links (phase 1 improvements).

Community Grant Round Part 2

If you are involved in a project or community group within the Parish of Peasedown, who would benefit from support for a particular scheme or to keep your group going, consider applying for a community grant from Peasedown Parish Council. You don't have to jump through hoops, you just need to be prepared to come to the village meeting in March and explain how the funding supported your group / work / activity. Peasedown St John Parish Council allocates budget each year to our Community Grants Scheme. We welcome applications from organisations that benefit the community of Peasedown St John and organisers of events to be held within the parish.

Great news!
Thanks to the brilliant work of wonderful volunteers with a little help from the Parish Council maintenance team both our Cemetery and our Jubilee Garden have won awards in Bath in Bloom. One of our volunteers, Howard, put the areas forward for the event. He works regularly in the Garden of Remembrance at the cemetery to keep that space beautiful, relaxing and restful for the residents and families who come to remember their loved ones who rest there. Without volunteers like Howard, Peasedown Parish Council would not be able to provide the wonderful floral displays it places through the parish and I am pleased their their hard work and dedication has been so brilliantly acknowledged with the awards. So next time you are on a wander and you fancy a reflection or a quiet moment, come along to the Jubilee Garden alongside Beacon Hall or go and spend a few moments in the Garden of Remembrance at Ashgrove Cemetery, both award winning spaces.
