Cardrona Pump Track

Cardrona Pump Track The Cardrona Pump n'Jump is a community developed pump track situated at the edge of Cardrona Village, half way between Glentress and Innerleithen.

The Cardrona Pump n'Jump track was originally built in 2010, thanks to lottery funding. In 2016 a redevelopment project was launched, raising over £4000 towards the project - Thank you to all who supported us! We are currently in the process of applying for grant funding to raise the remaining funds needed for the redevelopment to proceed. Keep a eye on our page for all information and updates about the project.

Thanks again everyone!

Did you this weekend? The bikescape team joined the DMBinS Forestry Commission Scotland Adrenalin Uplift Tweed Valley Trails Association TweedLove Glentress Trailfairies event in the morning at Innerleithen before our Cardrona Pump Track event in the afternoon. A HUGE thank you to everyone who came along to lend a hand at the pump track and take part in the official opening. It was awesome to see such a range of ages helping out and enjoying some laps! With the recent fair weather the Bikescape team were able to get the top soil landscaped and fence installed, meaning the track is now open!

We will be seeding the topsoil in the coming weeks as well as some on going works, but for the meantime please go and enjoy the track but if everyone could make an effort to stay off the topsoil (and encourage others to do so). Special thank you again to everyone that donated to the initial crowdfunding campaign. Your contributions and support were vital in helping secure the grant that ultimately allowed us to build this facility. Please enjoy and ride safe!

We've had a lot of people ask when the pump track is going to be ready to ride, and we thank everyone for their patience. The track is 95% complete, with some landscaping to finish and the existing fence to be fitted.

Over the past couple of weeks the weather has delayed the guys from getting back in to carry out the finishing touches. These final tasks are vital to the finish/sustainability of the facility, and unfortunately need to be carried out in dry weather. If we opened the gate and people were to enter before the topsoil is shaped and compacted, we run the risk of rain water/snow melt causing puddles, which would then be dragged throughout the facility by tyres or feet, and would cause a major mess.

Once the soil is shaped and compacted, we will open the track, but will ask people to please respect the signs notifying users to do their best to stay off the topsoil to give the grass seed a chance to establish itself.

With a forecast of snow for the coming week it is unlikely we will be able to make any progress, but some warmer and drier weather looks to be on the horizon starting next weekend - fingers crossed!

We really do appreciate everyones patience and with a little more the Tweed Valley will have it's new pump track for many summers to come!

Any questions please get in touch!

A break in the weather has allowed us to continue with the landscaping. Won't be long now until everyone can get some laps!

Anyone who has passed the site over the last week will have noticed the redevelopment of the track is well underway. We, along with the Bikescape team decided to keep things fairly quiet due to the recent activity in the area, so apologies for the late/lack of communications. Things are progressing nicely and we will let everyone know when it's ready to ride! You can view the progress by keeping up with on instagram.

UPDATE: The CVA have just received confirmation from Awards for All that the funding application was successful, which means that we have the green light to make the redevelopment of
the Cardrona pump track a reality.

Huge thanks to everyone who has donated, supported and helped in any way to get the project to this exciting stage!

We'll keep you all posted with details very soon!

Thanks again to all!

UPDATE: End of last week the Cardrona Village Association received a positive response from the Scottish Charity Regulator informing the changes to the charity constitution have been accepted, meaning they were able to submit the funding application over the weekend to Awards for All to make up the remaining balance required to fund the redevelopment. The timeline given by Awards for All is 6-10 weeks for a decision on any application and funding within 12 (including the 6 – 10 weeks) if successful. We will keep everyone updated as soon as they receive the results from Awards for All. Thanks to all who have helped to get to this stage including members of the CVA who have given up a fair bit of their own personal time with the application and to all those who kindly provided letters of support to submit with the application. Hopefully we’ll get the answer we’re all hoping for and have updated facility to enjoy soon!

The Cardrona Village Association posted the required documents (results of recent vote) to the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) on the 11th of July 2017. OSCR will access the changes made to the charity constitution, a process which can take up to 42 days. We will update everyone as soon as we hear back from OSCR. Thanks!

To all who have been following and who have invested in the redevelopment of Cardrona pumptrack, we would firstly like to apologise for the lack of updates and communication in recent weeks. Bikescape have been working on a short notice contract with the Fort William UCI Downhill World Cup.

In order to top up the generous donations additional funds are required and an application has been prepared to Awards for All. As you will be aware the track belongs to the Cardrona Village Association and unfortunately the lottery body has highlighted a couple of small changes that are required to the CVA constitution before the funding application can be approved. The process to change this is well underway and we will update you on this again very soon.

Thank you again all for the support and patience and, like yourselves, we can’t wait to start riding the new track and we look forward to seeing you there!

PROJECT UPDATE.

Firstly, a huge thank you to absolutely everyone who has supported and donated towards the redevelopment project for Cardrona Pump Track. As a community, we have successfully raised over £4500 – a fantastic sum of money! Thanks to everyone who has got behind and supported the project.

The raised amount is slightly lower than our original target for completing all works, but was a necessary and vital step to highlight the demand for the redevelopment. Your support puts us in a very strong position while we reach out for further funding.

We have been, and are continuing to work closely with the Scottish Borders Cycling Development Group who are assisting us in obtaining grant funding to make up the final balance. We have been advised from our initial meetings that between the crowdfunding you have all raised, combined with the amount of kids clubs, professional athletes backing the redevelopment and the growing number of enthusiastic cyclists in the Tweed Valley, we have a very positive application.

Keep an eye out for updates posted on our page!

Questions? You can message us through this page or email [email protected]

Remember, our crowdfunding campaign still has 1 week to go, any further donations of support will help massively and assist in lowering the grant required and cut down the time until you can be riding the new pump track!

From the map it's clear to see that we need more of these facilities in Scotland.

Let's make it happen!
