Check your immigration status before travelling to the UK

There is a new guidance page developed to help passengers self-resolve common immigration status issues before travelling to the UK.

The guidance is intended for passengers whose immigration status cannot automatically be verified during check-in and explains the steps they can take to evidence their permission to travel, avoid delays and make future travel easier. It includes advice for:

• eVisa holders with a UKVI account
• Passengers experiencing issues accessing or updating their UKVI account
• Passengers with acceptable physical proof of their settlement status (e.g. indefinite leave to remain)
• British dual nationals
• Passengers transiting without a visa
• Crown Dependency visa holders
• Passengers requiring an ETA
• Individuals who are exempt from immigration control

Where appropriate, the guidance directs passengers to services such as updating their UKVI account details, generating a share code, obtaining an eVisa, or presenting valid physical evidence of their immigration status. The aim is to help passengers resolve issues themselves before they arrive at the airport and to support smoother travel to the UK.

EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION:
On July 14, 1834, Governor Stephen R. Chapman issued the following
proclamation, which set the tone for the eventful days ahead.

Whereas by an Act of the Imperial Parliament passed the 28 th August 1833, it is
enacted and ordained that under certain conditions of apprenticeship and
compensation to the proprietors of slaves, the state of slavery shall, on and after the first day of August next, be abolished throughout His Majesty’s Colonial
Possessions, and whereas by an Act of Legislature of Bermuda made and passed
during the present year it is provided that on the simple condition of the
compensation before mentioned, slavery shall entirely and immediately cease to
exist in these Islands on and after the first day of August next ensuing, without any
further compulsory servitude, whether as apprentices or otherwise on the part of
persons hitherto held in a state of slavery, and whereas much praise and gratitude is due to divine providence for these merciful dispensations, I do, by and with the
advice and consent of His Majesty’s Council, ordain that the first day of next
August shall be religiously kept and observed by all orders of this community as a
day of Solemn Thanksgiving for the blessing thus conferred on a large portion of
the inhabitants of this Colony. And I do hereby, by and with the advice and
consent aforesaid, authorize and enjoin the Archdeacon of Bermuda, to prepare and publish a proper Form of Prayer and Thanksgiving to be used by the clergy
respectively in all Churches and Chapels belonging to the United Church of
England and Ireland in this Colony, on the day hereby appointed to be kept holy
for the purpose contemplated in this present Proclamation.

Acting Governor Dave Morgan attended the Pre-Cup Match Celebration Service at First Church of God, where he read the 1834 Emancipation Proclamation during the service.

The service was also attended by the Hon. Owen Darrell, JP, MP, Minister of Tourism and Transport, Culture and Sport, and the Hon. Craig Cannonier, JP, MP, as well as representatives from both cricket clubs.

Special thanks to Bishop Lambe and the entire First Church of God family for hosting this meaningful and inspiring event.

Wonderful to be in Glasgow for the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Commonwealth Games and to join fellow supporters in cheering on Team Bermuda. After a reception, His Majesty The King made welcoming remarks as athletes enjoyed a fantastic night in Glasgow. We are incredibly proud of our athletes as they represent Bermuda on the international stage with determination, talent, and sportsmanship. Wishing Team Bermuda every success throughout the Games! 🇧🇲🏅

Lionfish 🦁🐟 are an invasive species that cause real harm to Bermuda’s coral reefs. The Governor joined others in trying to control their numbers and putting them on the menu! 🍽️ supporting the “Eat ’em to beat ’em” campaign.

The Governor joined recruits and members of the full-time staff from the Royal Bermuda Regiment during the summer Recruit Camp this week. It was fantastic to take part in the bi-annual Operational Fitness Test with the recruits at Warwick Camp and to see first-hand the progress they have made in just two weeks. Well done to all the recruits and the training team for their dedication, hard work, and professionalism in making this year’s summer Recruit Camp a success. 💪🇧🇲

Thanks to Western County Cricket Association for a very warm welcome to White Hill Field to watch Warwick Workmen’s Club v Southampton Rangers Sports Club.

The Governor met players, supporters, families, and the wider community in celebrating one of Bermuda’s most cherished sporting traditions. A wonderful day of cricket, camaraderie, and community spirit.
