D-Day – 6 June

Today, we remember the courage of the Allied forces who landed on the beaches of Normandy and the airborne troops who dropped behind enemy lines in one of the most significant operations in history.

At Rescue(Ed), we’re also mindful of something that is often overlooked: every soldier, sailor, airman, medic, and paratrooper who stepped into the unknown that day did so carrying the knowledge, skills, and confidence that others had worked tirelessly to teach them.

The success of D-Day was built not only on bravery, but on preparation. Instructors, trainers, medics, and leaders spent countless hours ensuring that when the moment came, those under their care were ready.

As veteran-owned and operated professionals, we know that effective training can make the difference when it matters most. Whether on the battlefield, in an emergency, or in everyday life, education creates confidence, competence, and resilience.

Today we honour those who served, those who supported them, and those who dedicated themselves to teaching others the skills needed to succeed under extraordinary pressure.

“Train hard, fight easy.”
A principle that has guided generations of service personnel and remains as relevant today as it was on 6 June 1944.

Lest We Forget.

🚑 First aid can save a life — but what happens after the emergency matters too.

After giving first aid, don’t forget to take care of yourself as well. Adrenaline, stress, and shock can affect helpers just as much as the injured person. It’s normal to feel shaky, emotional, overwhelmed, or exhausted afterward.

Important support numbers & websites (UK):
📞 Emergency: 999
📞 NHS: 111
📞 Samaritans: 116 123
📞 Shout Crisis Text Line: Text “SHOUT” to 85258

Helpful support websites:
• NHS Mental Health Support
• Samaritans
• Mind UK
• British Red Cross First Aid Advice

🩹 After giving first aid:
• Wash your hands and clean any exposed areas
• Replace used medical supplies
• Talk to someone about what happened
• Rest and hydrate
• Don’t ignore your emotions afterward
• Seek professional help if the experience stays with you

Being the person who steps in during an emergency takes courage. Even if you feel you “could have done more,” your actions may have made all the difference.

Take care of others — but take care of yourself too. ❤️

At Rescue(Ed), we always speak about the importance of being proactive when it comes to emergency aid and saving lives in critical moments. But what about the after effects of medical trauma — the grief, the loss, and the support families need long after the emergency has passed?

Two very special friends I served with have created an incredible charity following the devastating loss of their son, Edison. Their charity, Edison’s Light, has become a beacon of hope and a lifeline for families who have experienced the loss of an infant during or after pregnancy.

This is a heartbreak that has existed for as long as time itself, yet far too often it is something society brushes past in silence. No family should ever have to feel alone in that pain.

Please head over to Edison’s Light, give them a like, a follow, and support the amazing work they are doing to help families through their darkest moments. 💛

We’re proud to share an exciting milestone for Rescue(Ed)!

Our Chief Educator has officially become a corporate member of Rotary International through the Barry & District Branch . This step reflects a deep commitment to community service, collaboration, and creating meaningful impact beyond the classroom.

Rotary’s values of service above self align closely with our mission at Rescue(Ed): supporting young people, empowering educators, and strengthening communities through education and opportunity. By joining this global network of professionals and changemakers, we’re opening new doors for partnership, outreach, and positive change.

We’re looking forward to working alongside fellow members in Barry & District to support local initiatives and contribute to Rotary’s wider humanitarian efforts.

Here’s to building stronger communities—together. 🌍

It’s been a little quiet on here lately—but for good reason.

As many of you know, our full-time roles sit within education, and this time of year is one of the busiest. Exam season is in full swing, with students and educators alike pushing through a demanding and important period.

That said, we’re still here.

Our passion for medical training and supporting others hasn’t gone anywhere. We remain ready to teach, collaborate, and deliver whenever and wherever we’re needed.

If you’ve been waiting to get in touch, now’s the time—let’s make it happen.
