A huge thank you to everyone who came along to The Royal Regiment of Scotland event at the National Piping Centre during Piping Live! yesterday.

It was a fantastic afternoon and a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the launch of The Royal Regiment of Scotland Pipe Music Collection – Volume 1. Pipers from across the Regiment came together to perform a selection of tunes from the book, alongside a number of regimental favourites, and it was great to see such a strong turnout and so much support for the project.

This book has been several years in the making, and seeing the music performed live in front of such an appreciative audience made the day particularly special. It was also a pleasure to meet so many people who came along to collect their copies and support the Regiment.

For those who weren’t able to attend, or for anyone who would like to relive the performance, there’s a link at the bottom of this post for the YouTube video from the event.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

Since returning from Exercise in Estonia, the Pipes and Drums of 2 SCOTS have had an exceptionally busy period supporting a wide range of state ceremonial events across Edinburgh and wider Scotland.

The summer began with the Freedom of Dundee Parade before moving straight into an intensive period of rehearsals and ceremonial commitments. These included the State Opening of the Scottish Parliament, His Majesty The King’s Arrival Parade at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, and the 20th Anniversary Parade of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The anniversary parade was a particularly proud occasion, with Pipes and Drums from 2, 3 and 4 SCOTS coming together to march up the Royal Mile before the unveiling of the Regiment’s new commemorative statue, marking 20 years since its formation. It was fantastic to see so many of the Regiment’s pipers and drummers on parade together for the first time in several years and it was a fitting way to celebrate this significant milestone.

As we now head into summer leave, the platoon was delighted to be presented with the Commander 1st (UK) Division Team Rhino Award for 2025. This recognition reflects the dedication, professionalism and hard work shown by every member of the band throughout an incredibly demanding year. It was a fitting way to round off a busy and successful period before a well-earned break.

We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer and look forward to returning after leave for another exciting programme of events.
