🛝 What better end of Summer treat than a visit to the UK’s largest Adventure Playground?! 🛝

There’s still two weeks left of the summer holidays and Lowther Castle is the perfect meeting point to catch up with friends or have a wonderful day out with family!

With several beautiful gardens to explore, a stunning castle ruin, the adventure playground and our excellent cafe & gelato 🍦 there is something for everyone!

🎭 Pinocchio Open Air Theatre tomorrow at Lowther Castle Gardens in aid of the Calvert Trust 🎭

Looking for something to do tomorrow? Why not support a wonderful charity the Calvert Trust and come and watch Pinocchio?

Illyria celebrates this magical coming-of-age tale in a thrilling musical outdoor show.

FREE ENTRY to Lowther Castle and Adventure Play area for ticket holders from 2pm on day of performance.

Running time (approx): 95-minutes (inc 20 minute interval)
Recommended for ages 5+ (younger children also welcome)

Bring seating, and wear clothing suitable for the Cumbrian weather! The café at Lowther will be open for snacks, ice cream and hot and cold drinks.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are permitted.

Venue is wheelchair accessible - the area for the audience is on a flat lawn serviced by level paths of hard gravel
Car parking 250m from performance area (free parking from 4.30pm).

✨ Lights of Lowther - Playground announcement ✨

A few people have asked if the playground will be open during our Winter light trail evenings. Whilst the playground will be closed from 4pm due to it being dark, we are happy for you to come into the gardens earlier and use the playground under your Lights of Lowther ticket.

The following terms apply:

✨ The Castle & grounds will close to general admission holders by 4pm so please make sure you’re back in the courtyard by 4pm.
✨Please stick to your time slot for Lights of Lowther. You have a half an hour window to start the light trail. If you have booked for
4pm you can come in up until 4.30pm.
✨ Your ticket must match the number of people entering the castle and gardens. Any extra people attending during the day with you will be charged our general admission price.

We appreciate your enthusiasm for the light trail and it’s great to see so many of you booking already. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to this unique event! ✨

✨🎄💫 Introducing Lights of Lowther 💫🎄✨

It may still be Summertime but our Winter plans are well underway, and we are so excited to share our brand new Festive light trail event with you! ‘Lights Of Lowther’ promises a magical evening and it’s your opportunity to experience Lowther in a completely different light.

Beginning on the 14th November 2026, Lowther Castle & Gardens will be transformed into a breathtaking illuminated wonderland as we launch our brand-new festive experience, ‘Lights of Lowther’. From towering trees bathed in colour to the dramatic gothic castle ruins, Lights of Lowther promises an unforgettable evening of light, music and festivities for visitors of all ages.

You will follow a beautifully designed trail through the castle grounds, discovering enchanting installations, sparkling woodland pathways and immersive displays that celebrate the unique beauty of Lowther.

Tickets are available now online and members receive a 10% discount when they register an account via our website.

🗓️ The trail starts on 14th November and runs on selected dates until 30th December.
🎟️ Adult ticket - £20, Child £15, Family ticket £65. Under threes get free entry. You can book tickets via the ‘What’s on’ section of the website.
⏰ Timeslots are available from 4pm until 8pm.
🫗 Festive food & drinks will be available throughout the trail at various stop off points.
