šŸ”„ FIRE BAN MEANS NO FIRES. IT’S REALLY THAT SIMPLE. šŸ”„

We have had a NO FIRE policy in place for 7 WEEKS, since it started getting hot and have already posted warnings. Despite this, we have had a party decide the rules don’t apply to them. We’ve also had people phoning up asking if we allow fires and insisting it is ok to light them and telling us it is ok for us to let them… NO

Tonight, we’ve been informed there is now an underground fire burning beneath the campsite as a result of a fire that has been lit.

This is EXACTLY why the ban is in place.

No fire means NO FIRE.
IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!

We will not risk the campsite, surrounding land, wildlife, our family and neighbours or other campers because someone wants a campfire. It is beyond selfish to risk everything for a fire!

If you are caught lighting a fire while the ban is in place, you will be asked to leave and will be BANNED. There will be no arguments, no excuses and no exceptions. If we are able to find out who you are from the location you have set up at our campsite we will be calling the police to report it.

We have repeatedly warned people about this, and quite frankly, we are getting fed up of having to explain something that really shouldn’t need explaining.

Please do not put everyone else’s safety at risk because you want a campfire. All of our guests are happy to follow this rule, but it only takes 1 stupid choice to ruin it for not only our guests, but our lives and business.

Thank you.

As I’m sure you’re all aware, we, along with all other camp sites, stopped allowing campfires around 6 weeks ago when the weather became extremely dry.

We are still NOT allowing campfires, BBQs, fire pits, disposable BBQs, or ANYTHING else that involves a flame or can be lit until further notice.

We are a wild campsite situated on the moors, and the ground is currently extremely dry. Even something that appears to be completely extinguished can remain dangerously hot underground and cause a fire to spread.

This is a rule we take very seriously. Around 5 years ago, we had two separate underground fires, only a couple of weeks apart, which continued burning underground for up to two weeks even after chucking copious amounts of water on it. It went deep underground.
We therefore stop campfires whenever conditions become too dry. Not to spoil anyone’s fun, but to protect the site, our guests, the surrounding land, our family and home and wildlife.

PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THIS RULE.
Do not be tempted to think ā€œit’ll be fineā€ or light something secretly. It could have extremely serious consequences.

Anyone found lighting a fire or BBQ on site during the ban will be asked to leave immediately and will receive a LIFETIME BAN from the campsite. No exceptions.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding. ā¤ļø

Due With the weather being so incredibly hot at the moment, we’ve made the decision to temporarily stop campfires until the temperatures cool down.

We’re really sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause, but everyone’s safety has to come first. During these dry conditions, fires can spread underground and continue to smoulder even after they appear to be out, creating a serious fire risk as we’ve unfortunately had in the past.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you continue to enjoy your stay with us!
