A date for your calendars!

Next month we have an Energy Advice and Support drop-in with National Energy Action, they will have free carbon monoxide alarms and a prize draw!

They will be in the library from 11am-1pm, pop in for energy saving advice and practical advice for keeping a good temperature in your home.

Dylan the Dragon is back this month!

Dylan and the Smarter Smiles team are back in the library following rhymetime on Friday 16th October.

This is a free event, and you and your children will leave with some free oral health goodies and a better knowledge of how to look after their teeth.

To finish off our week, we have bestseller and very well borrowed (it might be time for a new jacket...), Drama!

In 2017, this was the number 3 most challenged book, due to portrayals of LGBTQ+ characters.

Day 6 is about the Yasmin books. As pointed out on our previous post, the Yasmin books are great early reader books for younger children just getting to grips with reading.

They were also banned in a school in America, having been pulled in an internal review. Following complaints, the books were reinstated. This shows the power of your voice!

We interrupt our week of book bans to remind you that reading books, including banned ones, is for everyone.

In honour of the theme: "Dyslexia in real life: at work", we have some information.

First, we have a number of resources available to help anyone who is dyslexic still access reading. This includes dyslexia friendly copies of books, audiobooks, audio and font changes on borrowbox, graphic novels, and even alphabets on our shelves to help you find the book you would like!

Second, we would like to apologise. Our library assistant Ken is dyslexic. He is also doing the delivery today. So, if your reservations are in the wrong place, we apologise in advance!
