Bank Holiday! | Have a safe TRIP

Whether you’re leaving the south west or coming to visit, have a safe and enjoyable summer holiday road trip.

Follow the T.R.I.P. checks every driver needs to perform to keep themselves, their passengers and other road users safe.

TOP UP your fuel or battery, oil and screen wash
REST with planned stops of at least 15 minutes every two hours
INSPECT tyre pressure, tread depth and for cracks or tears before setting out
PREPARE for all weather conditions…it may be very hot, or we may have rain and thunderstorms

We’ll add that SPEED limits are there for your safety, they are not a target. Drive within the limit and to prevailing road, weather and traffic conditions. So, TRIPS: as easy to remember as TRIP.

Officers from the Penzance Neighbourhood Policing Team attended the Newlyn Family Fun Day at Gwavas Playing Field on 14 August 2026.

There were plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy, and officers joined in the fun by playing football and even taking a turn in the stocks.

The event provided a great opportunity to engage with local residents and their children, helping to build positive relationships within the community. It was a fantastic day and enjoyed by all who attended.

We look forward to supporting future community events.

Neighbourhood policing is about working closely with communities to understand and address the issues that matter most to local people, rather than simply responding to calls for service. It focuses on building trust, preventing crime, solving problems, and improving the quality of life within our neighbourhoods.

Closure Orders Granted on Two Properties Following Persistent ASB

Working alongside partner agencies, Penzance Neighbourhood Policing Team have successfully obtained 3-month Closure Orders on two properties following ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour linked to two Penzance addresses.
The action was taken after continued incidents caused significant disruption and distress to local residents. The Closure Orders will help protect the community by preventing unauthorised access to the properties and reducing further disorder.
We would like to thank those who reported concerns and supported the investigation. Information from the public plays a vital role in helping us tackle anti-social behaviour and make our neighbourhoods safer.
If you are experiencing or witnessing anti-social behaviour in your area, please continue to report it to us.

👮‍♀️ Child Safety Tip for Busy Events 🎡🎠

With lots of fantastic community events taking place over the summer, it's always worth planning ahead in case little ones become separated from their parents or carers.

✅ A simple tip is to write your mobile phone number on your child's event wristband (or on a piece of paper placed securely in a pocket if no wristband is provided).
If a child gets lost in a busy crowd, having a contact number readily available can help event staff, security or emergency services reunite them with their family much more quickly.

🎈 At a recent community event, officers helped reunite several children with their parents after they had become separated in the crowds. Thankfully everyone was quickly reunited, but having contact details available can make a stressful situation much easier to resolve.

Other useful tips include:

• Agreeing a meeting point before entering the event.
• Taking a photo of your child before attending so you have an up-to-date image and clothing description.
• Encouraging children to identify event staff, security staff or police officers if they need help.
• Reminding children of their full name and parent/carer name where appropriate.
A little preparation can make a big difference and help everyone enjoy a safe and fun day out. 😊

🔥 Avoid the use of barbecues and be careful with disposing of ci******es, especially in countryside locations – it’s tinder dry out there. Please take your litter home with you.
