🚨 Don't let your rubbish become someone else's problem!

That old fridge, mattress or broken appliance might be out of sight once it's collected, but do you know where it's going?

Rogue waste collectors can take your money and dump your unwanted items illegally in our streets, parks and countryside.

And even if you didn't dump it yourself, you could still face a fine if you haven't taken reasonable steps to ensure your waste is disposed of properly.

⚠️ We're also taking a tougher approach to fly-tipping, with the fine for offenders increased from £1,000 to £5,000, to make it clear illegal dumping will not be tolerated in our district.

This Fight Fly-Tipping Fortnight, we're supporting Keep Britain Tidy and reminding everyone to check who they're paying to take their rubbish away.

💚 Don't fall for a . Check before you pay!

❤️ Patients recovering from a heart attack, cardiac event or surgery can now access rehabilitation support closer to home thanks to our council leader, Cllr Richard Morris.

After surviving a near-fatal heart attack last year, Cllr Morris was determined to help others facing the same challenges. He brought together the NHS, Rivers Fitness and other partners to improve access to cardiac rehabilitation across Wychavon.

As a result, we're funding new weekly Phase 4 sessions at Droitwich Spa and Pershore leisure centres, helping patients rebuild their strength and confidence through guided exercise.

An additional NHS-funded Phase 3 session is also being introduced at Droitwich Spa, alongside existing support in Evesham.

And this is just the beginning, with plans for more work around heart health, exercise, prevention and a local support group.

💚 Help fight fly-tipping with these three simple checks!

Rogue waste collectors can hide behind professional-looking adverts, cheap prices and promises of hassle-free collections.

But if your rubbish ends up fly-tipped, you could still be held responsible and face a fine.

Before paying someone to take your waste away:
1️⃣ Ask for a waste carrier licence.
2️⃣ Check their registration on the Environment Agency's public register.
3️⃣ Get a receipt or official record of the waste transfer.

🛹🚴 Have you tried out Droitwich Spa’s new pump track and skate park yet?

We’ve invested £600,000 in creating the new facility next to Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre, providing an exciting space for BMX riders, skateboarders, scooter users and inline skaters of all ages and abilities.

Designed by specialists ON TRACK and Maverick Skateparks, the facility features rolling humps, banked turns, ledges, transitions and halfpipes.

Thank you to local residents including Alex Pedlow, Martin Maycroft, Craig Edwards and Chris Smith whose ideas and input helped turn the vision into reality.

🏗️ We've appointed a contractor to carry out the demolition of the Riverside Shopping Centre as part of our plans to transform Evesham town centre.

DSM Demolition Ltd, one of the UK's leading demolition specialists, has been appointed to dismantle the centre. The company has more than 35 years' experience and has worked on major projects including the former White Hart Lane stadium, Paradise Circus in Birmingham and the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

A detailed demolition plan will now be developed, with work expected to begin in spring 2027 once the remaining businesses and organisations have moved out.

The demolition will be carried out in phases due to the complexity of the site and the need to protect neighbouring buildings, including Evesham Public Hall.

📢 In other updates:

✅ There are currently no detailed plans or designs for what will replace Riverside. These are not expected until a development partner has been appointed and detailed design work begins.
✅ We are working with our commercial partner Savills to develop a brief for a development partner, with the aim of making an appointment in spring/summer 2027.
✅ Residents, businesses and stakeholders will have opportunities to help shape proposals before any plans are finalised.
✅ Claims circulating online the site will be filled with high-rise flats or that all homes will be social housing are incorrect. No decisions have been made about the future mix of homes, retail or leisure uses.
✅ Community workshops to help design artwork for the site hoardings will be be announced soon.
