PKC Waste Services Team Providing up to date information on domestic and commercial waste services and campaigns across Perth and Kinross.

This account is monitored during our opening hours 8.45am-5.00pm Monday to Friday. We're here to provide information and help householders and businesses with their waste and recycling. We aim to be respectful in our posts and any comments we respond to. We expect the same of all those contributing to our page. We want our page to be safe, friendly and an open place for discussion on all things waste and recycling related. We therefore have the following house rules to help support that:
- All users must comply with the social media platform's terms of use as well as our own terms of use
- We answer enquiries/messages as soon as possible within working hours: 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
- We will remove, in whole or in part, posts that we feel are inappropriate – for example bullying or harassment - or discriminatory against any individual or group
- You are wholly responsible for any content you post including content you choose to share
- We will remove messages (where function allows) and report and/or block users on our social media channels who post messages at us which we believe are:
- abusive or obscene
- deceptive or misleading
- in violation of any intellectual property rights, including copyright
- in violation of any law or regulation
- spam and off-topic content
- promotional material

Anyone repeatedly engaging with us using content or language which falls into the above categories will be blocked and/or reported to the associated social media platform. We will not tolerate or respond to abusive messages. We must always remain politically neutral on social media which is why council officers are unable to reply to, endorse or engage with, any content that is of a party political nature. Political issues can be discussed with local councillors.

Got someone collecting your waste? Ask the question: “What’s your SEPA registration number?”, then check it on the SEPA register at search-the-register.sepa.org.uk/Find-Authorisations. If they can’t provide a registration number, or you can’t find them on the register, walk away!

It only takes around 30 seconds to check the register. You should also ask anyone you are paying to remove your waste for a Waste Transfer Note or receipt that says where they are going to dispose of your waste. Around 13,000 people in Perth and Kinross hold a Domestic Exemption Permit for recycling centres. This permit is free and available to householders who use a commercial-type vehicle or large trailer, for example a van or pickup truck, to take their own household waste to any Perth and Kinross Council recycling centres.

The Domestic Exemption Permit makes it quicker and easier for site attendants to distinguish between commercial and household waste, which helps make our recycling centres more efficient for all users.

You can apply for a free Domestic Exemption Permit online and it doesn’t need to be renewed. You only have to contact us if you change your vehicle or need to update any other information.

The Commercial Waste Team will carry out checks when you apply to ensure you are not disposing of commercial waste.

In Perth and Kinross, we have 580 businesses legitimately accessing our recycling centres and weighbridge and responsibly disposing of waste by being registered through our Commercial Permit service.

Without a Commercial Permit you cannot legally dispose of business waste and recycling via our recycling centres and the weighbridge. Charges apply to cover the cost of disposal of some types of commercial waste. Please visit www.pkc.gov.uk/commercial-permits for more information on Commercial Permits and to apply for a permit.

Anyone found to have flytipped commercial waste faces a fine of up to £40,000, being taken to court, and even ending up with a criminal record.

This International E-Waste Day, we’re taking part in
Great Cable Challenge. By recycling our cables and other electricals stashed in
