Destiny Bridge and the New Kingsway are now officially open to the public. We know that many of you are keen to get out and travel on this wonderful new road and would ask you all to drive safely and respectively as you do so.

“As the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken by Perth and Kinross Council, the opening of Destiny Bridge and the New Kingsway marks a momentous achievement for all involved.

“I would like to offer thanks to the project team for their hard work and dedication; and to residents, particularly those in Stormontfield, Scone and Luncarty, for their patience and understanding during the build.” - Councillor Grant Laing, Perth and Kinross Council Leader.

Following speeches from Perth and Kinross Council Leader, Councillor Grant Laing, and athletics champion, Eilidh Doyle, the First Minister officially opened Destiny Bridge and the New Kingsway.

Please note: The New Kingsway and Destiny Bridge will be open to the public from mid afternoon.

First Minister John Swinney said, “The completion of the New Kingsway and Destiny Bridge is a significant milestone for Perth, and I have no doubt that it will be transformative for the area and bring enormous benefits to all who use it.

“Reducing traffic volumes in the city centre will make journey times quicker, while also helping to reduce pollution, improve air quality, and free up road space for improved public transport.

“This project showcases exactly how, with the right investment and strong partnerships, we will continue to deliver on my priorities of growing the economy, improving public services and protecting the planet.”

OPENING DATE ANNOUNCEMENT | 31st March 2025

The £150M Cross Tay Link Road project, will officially open on 31st March 2025 at approximately 12 noon.

The opening ceremony will be led by First Minister, John Swinney, and Perth and Kinross Council Leader, Grant Laing.

Olympic medallist, Eilidh Doyle, who hails from the area, will also lead a parade of local people including joggers, wheelchair users and cyclists to commemorate the new Active Travel Path Network opening alongside the road infrastructure.

Councillor Laing commented, “After many years in the planning and delivery residents, visitors and businesses will soon be able to cross Destiny Bridge and the New Kingsway following the official opening on 31st March 2025.

“While the scale of the building project itself is immense, it’s what happens next that offers the real success story. By providing an alternative to driving through the city centre, the route will reduce congestion and improve air quality in the city centre, while the new Active Travel Path Network supports connections with the city and between the communities spanning the River Tay. I look forward to seeing Perth and Kinross reaping the benefits of this investment.”

The £150M Cross Tay Link Road project, will officially open on 31st March 2025 at approximately 12 noon.
