This haven of tranquility in the city of Perth is filled with rare and unusual plants from around the world, including the vivid Himalayan Blue Poppy.

Branklyn Garden is an oasis of peace and colour within walking distance of Perth. Two acres of garden contain rare and unusual plants. Among the most breathtaking are the Himalayan blue poppies, Meconopsis, which flower in May and June. Throughout spring and summer, the rock garden is in full bloom, containing a wide collection of alpines plants and Primulas. In autumn the many Japanese Maples put on a spectacular fiery red display. The garden is predominantly a collection of plants from China, Tibet, Bhutan and the Himalayas. There is an impressive amount of the original plants collected by the famous plant collectors Ludlow and Sherriff. Take a little piece of our garden haven home with you from our plant sales and gift shop and enjoy light refreshments in our tearoom.

The autumn flowering gentians are looking stunning, and are enjoyed by visitors of the human and insect variety alike. This is the lovely cultivar Gentian 'The Caley'.

The garden is open daily from 10am to 5pm, the tearoom from 11am to 4pm. Please use our car park on Fairmount Terrace (PH2 7AS) and take the 200m walk down to the garden gate. There is limited blue badge parking at the gate (PH2 7BB). Dogs on short leads are welcome. Our last day of opening for 2026 is Sunday 1st November.

The leaves of the Japanese maples are just starting to turn, and there is plenty more to see in the garden, including Cyclamen, autumn flowering gentians and the lovely berries on all the Rowan's.

These dainty cyclamen flowers really are a joy in autumn. Once established they will tolerate really very dry conditions. We've still got some excellent quality plants on the sales benches, so you can grab some for your garden too, after you have admired them in ours.

Whether you are catching up with friends, celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself, our Afternoon Tea, served in our lovely cosy tearoom, is the perfect way to while away an autumnal afternoon following a wander around the garden 🍂🍁 ☕🥪🍰😋.

Enjoy a selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches and savoury treats, our famous home baked scone served with locally made jam and Rodda’s clotted cream along with a tier of tasty sweet treats. Choose from our selection of fine Suki teas or our freshly ground NTS coffee blend.
Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options are available.

Afternoon Teas are available every day and are priced at £25 per person. Please note that we require 48 hours notice for afternoon tea.

Normal garden entry applies, NTS / NT members are free of charge, we also accept Gardeners World 2 for 1 cards, and RHS members are free on a Wednesday & Thursday. Parking is available in the NTS car park on Fairmount Terrace PH2 7AS with a 200m walk downhill to the garden. There is limited blue badge parking at the garden gate PH2 7BB.

The fantastic birch at the bottom of the rock garden (Betula gross) is doing it's autumn spectacle of turning into a ball of yellow. Pop along and take a look before the winds blow it away! Recently measured by volunteers from Tree Register TROBI as being a new Scottish champion tree for its height and girth.

Get into the spirit of the season and learn how to craft a traditional mossed festive wreath using natural materials. Our Head Gardener will guide you through the process step by step and you will take home a beautifully crafted wreath to decorate your home.

It is not just plants you need to keep your eyes peeled for just now in the garden, there are lots of different mushrooms appearing. These dramatic Sulphur Tuft fungi are feeding on a dead tree stump in the garden.
