Following on from our Abernethy highlights, here’s another great place to visit while you’re there.

The Abernethy Round Tower is well worth exploring. The stairs are narrow and steep, so if you’re a little wobbly with heights, it’s best to bring a friend along for support. It can also be quite windy at the top, but the stunning views make the climb absolutely worthwhile.

To plan your day in Abernethy and discover even more wonderful places to visit, head to perthcityandtowns.co.uk.

It’s 1 September and that means one thing... the "BER" months are here! 🍂

We all love summer, but there’s something special about Perth City and Towns as autumn begins to arrive. The leaves start to turn, the days get a little cooler, and the calendar fills up with things to see and do, bringing some of the most exciting times of the year.

This year, Perth will host its first Fringe Festival, kicking off this Friday with ten days packed full of comedy, music, magic, drag, circus and more. Then, in October, comes the wonder of The Enchanted Forest, with illuminated woodland trails, a spectacular light show, cosy nights and unforgettable experiences beneath the autumn skies.

And before we know it, Christmas will be just around the corner, with Perth's Christmas Lights Switch-On returning on Saturday 21 November. (Yes, we said it, Christmas!) 🤶

The end of the trail is nearly here.

Wednesday 2 September will be the last day to see the bears in their current locations across Perth and Kinross.

Over the past few months, they have become part of journeys, day trips, family outings and unexpected discoveries in towns across the area.

Whether it’s meeting MacEarn in Crieff, spotting the shimmering Chrysalis in Blairgowrie, or finding a bear closer to home, there are still a few days left to enjoy the trail before the bears move on.

Which bears are still left on your list? 🐻

Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games | 6 September

Step into over 135 years of tradition at the annual Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games. Enjoy a fantastic day filled with heavyweight competitions, Highland dancing, athletics, cycling, tug of war, dog shows and much more.

If you've been before, you'll know all about the traditional hill race.

It's steep, it's tough, but with the right people by your side, it's a challenge worth taking on.

Well marked and packed with determination from start to finish, it's always a highlight of the Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games.

Will you be taking it on this year, or cheering from the sidelines?

Spotlight: Abernethy

Recently, we visited the adorable little Museum of Abernethy and don’t let its small exterior fool you!

Inside, it’s packed with fascinating local history.

If you know about the log boat, you’ll know it’s an important part of the village’s story, although the boat itself is now on display at Perth Museum.

And then there’s the fascinating history behind the witches of Abernethy.

The museum is beautifully laid out and makes for a lovely wander, with plenty to discover and explore.
And yes… we got the key!

A tiny museum with a BIG story to tell.

Definitely worth stopping by if you’re exploring Abernethy!
