Please follow this advice from our colleagues at the fire service who have been dealing with a large fire at Holme Fen since the weekend. 🙏

Firefighters are continuing to tackle the large fire at Holme Fen Nature Reserve today (Monday August 10). Crews remained on scene overnight working incredibly hard.

We are still asking you to please, please avoid the area. It is very busy with emergency vehicles and it also for your own safety due to the hazards in the area.

If you can smell smoke, please close your windows and doors.

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at PCH, and Special Care Baby Unit at Hinchingbrooke, are celebrating after successfully achieving re-accreditation under the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative following a comprehensive assessment in May.

The UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Neonatal Programme is a nationally recognised accreditation that supports neonatal units to deliver high-quality care by promoting close and loving parent–baby relationships, supporting breastmilk feeding, and ensuring parents are valued as partners in their baby's care.

Tracy James, Lead Nurse and Service Manager Neonatal Services said:
"This award recognises the incredible work, commitment and passion of our teams. Every member of staff has played an important role in ensuring families receive the highest standards of care and support throughout their neonatal journey."

The announcement comes at a particularly fitting time as we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week, highlighting the ongoing commitment of neonatal teams to supporting babies and families while giving every child the best possible start in life.

We were delighted to welcome Professor Lucy Chappell, Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department of Health and Social Care and CEO of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), to Peterborough City Hospital last Friday to learn more about Research, Innovation and Impact & Neighbourhood Health Partnerships within our local area and the collaborative work taking place between the Trust and our community partners.

During the visit, Professor Chappell listened to presentations showcasing how we are working together to improve health and wellbeing for local people which provided a valuable opportunity to share insights, discuss collaborative working, and highlight the impact of partnership-driven care.

💜 Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the UK - affecting one in four men in their lifetime (or one in four for men from an Afro-Caribbean heritage). Often referred to as a 'silent killer', it is also a cancer that can be cured if picked up early enough. The Trust is supporting a community health event in St Neots next month spearheaded by campaigner Dave Young and supported by Purple Horizons where the aim is to set a world record for the most men tested and examined for prostate cancer at one location in one day.
