Residents raised concerns. Cllrs Arfan Khan and Murtaza Ahmed-Munir acted immediately. That's what local representation is all about. 💙

Thank you to everyone who got in touch to share your concerns about parking and visitor behaviour around the new Family Contact Centre at Derby house. Listening to residents and acting on your concerns is an important part of representing our community.

Following the feedback, Councillor Arfan Khan and Councillor Murtaza Ahmed Munir visited the site and met with the centre’s manager Sam to discuss the issues. It was a positive and constructive meeting, and we were reassured that they understand the impact on local residents and are committed to working with the community to address these concerns.

The centre has agreed to encourage visitors to be considerate of neighbours, and they will continue to review how the site operates to help minimise any disruption. The Centre is also encouraging their staff to car pool, to reduce the issues around parking whilst they are working on a long term solution.

We will keep in touch with the centre and continue to monitor the situation. Thank you again to everyone who raised their concerns. By working together, we can help ensure the centre provides an important service while also being a good neighbour to our community.

It was good to meet with local residents today, alongside the Council’s Highways Team, to discuss ongoing concerns about speeding and inconsiderate parking on Dogsthorpe Road.

Residents shared their experiences and highlighted the impact these issues are having on road safety and daily life. It was a constructive meeting, with the opportunity to look at the options available and discuss the next steps to help address these concerns.

Thank you to everyone who came along and took the time to share their views. Your local knowledge is invaluable, and we will continue working with residents and Council officers to push for practical solutions that make our neighbourhood safer for everyone.

The latest statements from local Labour MPs about Keir Starmer feel like classic too-little-too-late politics.

One is calling for him to go, another is backing him to stay, but both have already supported his government through every major policy decision so far.

They voted with him, backed him, and defended the direction of travel while the same policies have been hitting working residents and local businesses hard.

Now, as the pressure builds, we’re suddenly meant to believe these are principled breaks with the leadership?

It’s hard to take seriously when the damage has already been done and consistently supported along the way.

People locally won’t forget who backed what when it mattered.
