We visited Mohammed to see how the average Peterborough family makes the most of their green bin. With so much of our household waste still ending up in the wrong place, knowing what belongs in your green bin can make a real difference to recycling rates and the environment.

Discover what can and can't go in your green bin, along with plenty of practical tips to help you recycle more effectively: https://www.peterborough.gov.uk/bins-waste-and-recycling/household-waste/what-goes-in-which-bin

Please help our team develop our new strategy by answering a few questions.

Help shape community cohesion in Peterborough.

We're developing a new Community Cohesion Strategy and we'd like to hear from residents across Peterborough.

The strategy is about understanding what helps people feel safe, connected and respected in their local area, and what more can be done to support communities.

Whether it's community engagement, tackling inequalities, partnership working or supporting communities, your feedback will help us understand residents' experiences, what is already working well and where more support may be needed.

We know people will have different views, and the survey is the best place to share them so they can be properly considered as part of the strategy.

🗣️ Have your say today

Thank you for sharing your views constructively and helping us build stronger, safer and more connected communities across Peterborough.

Waste Wednesdays ♻️ Black Bags Belong in the Black Bin! ♻️

Did you know? Black bags should never be placed in your recycling bin.

When recycling is put inside black bags, collection crews can't see what's inside. This means the contents cannot be checked and may contaminate the rest of the recycling, resulting in valuable materials being sent for disposal instead of being recycled.

âś… Place your recycling loose in your green recycling bin
âś… Use clear bags only if absolutely necessary
❌ No black bags in recycling bins

Help us recycle more and waste less by putting the right thing in the right bin.

A few weeks ago Community Connector Alice joined Family Action Woodfield Park Community Project, Cross Keys Homes and the Peterborough Litter Wombles Association for a litter pick from Welland to Dosthorpe.

It was brilliant to see families and local people coming together to take pride in their community. Hopefully, afternoons like this also encourage us all to think about the impact of the litter we leave behind.

We finished at the Wellbeing Garden with some lovely crafts, activities and a chance to connect.

Keep an eye on social media for details of the next litter pick if you’d like to get involved!

The Wellbeing Garden is also always looking for volunteers and is available completely free for community groups to use. If you’re interested, drop us a message and we’ll put you in touch.

It’s a BIG one this week! 👀

EDIT: I’ve made a mistake! Calm and craft kids is 9.30-10.30, not in the afternoon.

Three whole pages of community events happening across Peterborough to help you make the most of the final week of the school holidays.

There’s lots going on, so have a scroll and see what takes your fancy. And as always, a big thank you to everyone who keeps sending us their events!

You can also join the Peterborough Litter Wombles every Sunday for a community litter pick. Check out their page for details.

Congratulations to Peterborough RLFC who won their Division last weekend!🎉

Keep an eye out for opportunities to join them next season whether in the team or from the stands on their socials.

CHAMPIONS

It wasn’t a dream! The boys managed to beat an incredibly tough Staffordshire side on Saturday to be crowned league champions.

A 13 game unbeaten season ending with the trophy was pretty special. I think some of the boys are still nursing a hangover but it was all worth it, we won’t be forgetting this one in a while.

Those boys still feeling dodgy will need to get over it quick as attention turns to our end of year presentation this Friday. Plenty of awards to give out and a lot to celebrate. Stay tuned to see the winners!
