We have Outstanding Sixth Form Success at Hampton Academies Trust. Our students achieved outstanding outcomes across both Hampton College and Hampton Gardens in 2027, with A*-A and A*-C results, including vocational qualifications, matching or exceeding national averages. External assessments further indicate that students in our Sixth Forms make significantly stronger progress than the national norm.

The success does not stop at results. In 2026, 72% of our Year 13 leavers progressed to university, significantly above the national higher education participation rate. The remaining students secured apprenticeships, degree apprenticeships, employment opportunities or embarked on meaningful gap year experiences supporting charities abroad.

We are delighted to announce that Hampton College Primary has won a prestigious award for its work supporting young carers with their education.

The school was presented with the Young Carers in Schools award in September. Young carers are children under 18 who are responsible for the care of a family member with who, due to illness, disability, mental health condition or addiction, can’t cope without their support.

The award is part of the Young Carers in School programme run by charities The Children’s Society and Carers Trust. The programme provides primary and secondary schools across England with step-by-step guidance for teachers, leaders and non-teaching staff to gain the practical tools they need to help young carers.

Hampton College Primary won the award by demonstrating how it supports young carers. This includes running clubs and drop-in sessions with a member of staff responsible for this vulnerable group of pupils.

Paul Jones, Head of School, said:

“I am absolutely delighted that the hard work, commitment and dedication to our Young Carers at Hampton College Primary has been recognised with this award. Being a Young Carer can feel lonely and isolating and can have an impact on all aspects of the young person’s life both in and out of school, however by supporting and championing our Young Carers, and by connecting them with other Young Carers, we hope to give them the best possible start in life as children with caring responsibilities. I’d like to thank our team of pastoral staff for their day-to-day commitment to our Young Carers, and for always working hard to encourage, guide and nurture these children.”

Research by Carers Trust shows 40% of young carers say they don’t get enough support to balance education and caring. Separate research by The Children’s Society shows young carers get an average of one grade lower in GCSE subjects than their peers and they often also have lower levels of self-confidence and mental wellbeing.

Statutory guidance makes clear that all school staff should be particularly alert to the potential need for early help for young carers. The Young Carers in School programme is a way of helping schools address this.

Vicky Morgan, Carers Trust’s Head of Young Carers at Young Adult Carers, said:

Figures show there are two young carers in every classroom but balancing learning with looking after family members can be tough without help. By identifying young carers and putting support in place, schools and teachers can make a huge difference to their wellbeing and education. That’s why the brilliant work done by staff at Hampton College Primary is so vital and why this award is so richly deserved.”

"Recent figures from the school census highlight that nearly 80% of schools reported they had zero young carers in their pupil population. We know this simply isn't true and that young carers are a hidden group of children and young people who need support to achieve the same level of success as their peers at school. We're absolutely thrilled that Hampton College Primary has achieved the Young Carers in Schools award, demonstrating their commitment to identifying these hidden children and young people and ensuring they get the vital support they need to thrive in education and in life beyond school."

✨ What an inspiring day for our ARU trainee teachers! ✨
It was an absolute privilege to welcome three highly experienced educational leaders across our ARU campuses:

📍 Peterborough – Dr Helen Price, CEO, Hampton Academies Trust
📍 Chelmsford – Emma Wigmore FIoL, Chief Executive Officer, The Diocese of Chelmsford Vine Schools Trust
📍 Cambridge – Agata Wygnanska-Richards, Headteacher, Barrington C of E Primary School

Through the theme The State of Teaching Today – and Why You've Chosen Well, our guest speakers shared honest, insightful, and inspiring perspectives on the opportunities and challenges shaping education today, while highlighting the profound impact teachers have on the lives of children, families, and communities. The feedback from trainees has been overwhelmingly positive, with many describing the sessions as motivational, reassuring, and thought-provoking. Reflections included:

💬 It was very inspirational hearing Helen. Her passion was contagious, and my key takeaway was that although there are many pressures in teaching, there is always room for creativity.
💬 One of my key takeaways was the importance of being adaptable. It reminded me to remain open to change throughout my career.
💬 I loved hearing about what Agata looks for as a Headteacher when interviewing new ECTs. It was incredibly insightful and helpful for thinking ahead to the future.
💬 Emma made me realise the significance of balancing the challenges with the rewards of teaching, and just how great an impact a teacher can have on their pupils. It will be challenging, but worth it in the end. Remember your why!

These reflections perfectly capture the powerful messages shared throughout the day: embracing opportunities, remaining adaptable, thinking ahead to future career goals, and never losing sight of the difference teachers make.

A huge thank you to Helen, Emma, and Agata for so generously giving their time, expertise, and encouragement to our trainee teachers. We are incredibly grateful for your support and for helping to inspire the next generation of educators. We very much look forward to working with you again in the future.

Hampton Academies Trust was pleased to host the inaugural meeting of the East of England Multi-Academy Trust Chairs Network, launched by the Department for Education, supported by the Regional Schools Director Jonathan Duff, and led by our own Chair, Al Kingsley MBE. We're also pleased that the trust are supporting this group over the coming year with the support of Emily Culpin, governance professional and marketing guru.

The aim of the Multi-Academy Trust Chairs Network is to help support raising standards and challenge around multi-academy trust governance. Focusing on topics such as effectiveness of multi-academy trust boards, building strategic leadership, scheme of delegations, and appropriate processes for accountability and insurances within our trusts, alongside frameworks. Discussing everything from financial oversight, compliance, risk, cybersecurity, the impact of AI, the development of future trust boards, diversity, inclusivity and more.

The chairs' network will continue to grow over the coming months, with the ultimate aim of engaging with and working with all chairs of school MATs and local authority chairs across the east of england.
