Many of you know that the Railworld Wildlife Haven was started by a very special man - Peterborough’s Rev Richard Paten- he was our Founder and Major Benefactor- he bought all the land we have, set up and donated it to the charity- This has enabled volunteers to create what we have today♥️ Richard’s Uncle Lionel Paten was an accomplished Cinematographer and loved the moving images in 1939 this was a very expensive and talented hobby- Drew is a passionate volunteer and talented archivist with Fenland on Film - he is getting the original Paten Film Digitised so he can share it with the nation - Drew has worked his magic on digital improving this Anglia TV News Report of 1997 - Enjoy my friends 👍

See ITV Anglia News Monday 14th Sept - For Latest Update!! The 'Cambridgeshire Hovertrain Project' has always fascinated the volunteers at the 'Railworld Wildlife Haven' here in Peterborough. So much so that in 1993 Volunteers got together with ex- employees of the company to save the RTV 31 - Research Test Vehicle from scrapping - The test vehicle that achieved 107 MPH before the project was abandoned in 1973! The money was raised to save the hulk. No Grants - No One - Just No One was interested! But - Volunteers were - they created a plinth and there RTV 31 stood on its original track for over 30 years ... Volunteers even raised funds and painted RTV up in non original livery, with windows painted in to create a more dynamic, inspirational view to the outside world. Volunteers continued to collect artifacts, photos, film and documents and made these available to Fenland on Film to enable Drew Silver to make a Documentary on the epic 'Cambridgeshire Hovertrain Project'. This will be shown inside RTV once it's cosmetically restored by the volunteers to enable the full story to be told - The Rise & Fall of RTV 31 - Britain's Hovertrain

After months of meticulous work building bespoke support beds - Crowland Crane are supporting the volunteers by carefully repositioning and lowering RTV 31 - Research Test Vehicle 31 to a new home - lower down! The amazing hulk has had to be split in two to enable the safe lowering! She reached a top speed of 107MPH, When contactors were helping the volunteers on dismantling of RTV for lowering they found two seats fastened in - We reckon two of the engineers actually travelled on RTV During the tests!! - Who were they?? RTV was built in 1971/2 for the trials of the Linear Drive Motor on the Cambridgeshire Hovertrain Project!! ‘The Train Without Wheels’ - 3 miles of track was built- from Earith to Sutton Gault, but a collapse at mile one reduced the distance of the trials. Volunteers and ex employees saved the hulk from the scrap man and brought RTV 31 to Peterborough in 1994 to the Railworld Wildlife Haven to tell the story of Man's incredible passion for ‘High Speed Land Transport’ - RTV is being lowered today by Crowland Crane for cosmetic restoration- lots more news to follow - Plus ‘Fenland on Film’ are creating a superb documentary to tell the amazing story, featuring some of the Scientists and Engineers that worked on the Space Aged Project 👍
