I'm a crying mess 😭
I'm incredibly proud to see Luke Buchan take this step. I first met him in 2021 when looking for a Youth Officer for our branch. He was so young I had to ask his mum if it was OK!
Since then he has fulfilled important roles in our Branch, Constituency Association, Local campaign Teams and other Independence Organisations. He has also been an asset to two MSP's Offices.
He has the energy of youth allied with a very mature outlook on Politics and Public Service.
George St and Harbour would be blessed to have my friend represent them.

🏴 After encouragement from members, I’m putting myself forward to be the SNP candidate for the George Street and Harbour ward by-election.
This ward is my home. From Pittodrie to the city centre and down to the coastline, it’s a part of Aberdeen I care deeply about, and I want to help make sure it gets the strong SNP voice it deserves.
I joined the SNP because I believe Scotland’s future should be in Scotland’s hands. Independence is why I got involved in politics, and why I want to stand now: to help build a fairer, stronger country where decisions about our economy, energy and communities are made here.
Through my work with Audrey Nicoll MSP, campaigning across Aberdeen and holding national and local positions within the SNP, I have the experience, relationships and a strong understanding of the challenges facing our city.
Since leaving my role with Audrey following the election, I’m ready to put my full energy into this campaign and lead from the front as a full-time candidate.
Aberdeen needs strong voices standing up for local jobs, local businesses, our communities and Scotland’s right to choose its own future.
This is my home, and I’d be proud to fight for it as your SNP candidate.
