Today, we pause to remember the 167 men who never returned home to their loved ones from the Piper Alpha disaster on July 6, 1988.

The Piper Alpha Memorial in Aberdeen stands as a lasting tribute to those who were so tragically lost and to the families, survivors and rescue crews whose lives were changed forever that night.

It serves as a place of reflection, remembrance and respect for all those affected by the darkest day in the history of the North Sea oil and gas industry.

We honour the courage, sacrifice and memories of those who lost their lives.

Their legacy endures in the hearts of their families, friends, colleagues and communities and in the lessons learned that continue to shape offshore safety today.

Our thoughts are with everyone remembering loved ones today.

A massive congratulations to Angus Matheson SNP. Angus will be a brilliant councillor for Peterhead South and Cruden.

Second place overall on a very tightly contested seat. A huge effort from my team to which I am grateful.

Thank you to everyone who came out and voted for me 1st and even 2nd and 3rd. Every vote counts.

As poll doors slam shut at 10, I just want to thank all my friends and colleagues who came out and supported me, My Partner and family who have continually pushed and encouraged me onwards, and finally my co candidates for a clean and constructive by-election.

And thank you to each and everyone who got out today and put your trust into me.

Standing in any election is always a challenging and often scary process especially for younger people. I’m so pleased that 2 of the candidates were under 30, and wish to encourage more young people to stand in future.

Regardless of the result tomorrow I am incredibly grateful to have played a part of this important democratic process.

Incredibly grateful to have the mentorship and support of 2 north east champions.

Firstly, our newest north east regional MSP Cllr James Adams. A true powerhouse for the northeast. Your support and guidance is invaluable.

And David Duguid our former MP for Banff and Buchan, who knows every detail of every town and village across Buchan. A huge miss for the people of Peterhead. I hope I can live up to your great work in the constituency.
