We’ve had so much fun creating our Burnhaven scarecrow! 💙 From the first ideas to getting stuck in and bringing our creation to life, there’s been lots of teamwork, creativity and plenty of laughs along the way! 🧵🍂

Our scarecrow is now all finished and has been dropped off at Middleton Farm Potterton, ready to take its place alongside all the other wonderful creations. We’re so proud of what our little school has made together! 🥰 💙

A big thank you to Peterhead Fire Brigade who came out today to deliver an informative presentation on fire safety on bonfire night. We had lots of insightful questions including how do you feel when you have to attend an incident.
We then got to explore the fire engine and learn about the different equipment. What a great afternoon at Burnhaven!

P7 Fun Fact of the week!

The longest recorded time spent balancing on one foot is 76 hours and 40 minutes, set by Arulanantham Suresh Joachim in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from May 22 to 25, 1997.

The P7's decided to have a go and see how long they could last on one foot. Our Burnhaven record is 4 minutes and 3 seconds! Well done!

Last week our P1-7 pupils have been working on our story writing skills. Our P7s had an editing session where they peer assessed each others stories, giving each other some supportive feedback and helped each other edit them. Our P1-4 pupils started a new Talk for Writing unit about Max the dog. They were focusing on using adjectives and adjectival phrases to create a description of Max and the story setting. They listened to/ read a description of the setting and draw their own pictures of the jungle before writing their own description.

Fun Fact of the week!

After discovering an interesting fact, the P7's decided to measure out their fact. Here they are - 5.5 metres long! The same size as the oarfish that washed up off the coast of Southern California. It took 16 people to drag it ashore.

This week we have been working hard on developing our addition skills. Our P7s were adding angles around a point and on a straight line. Our younger pupils were using different strategies to add numbers to a 100. Our Primary 1 pupils were introduced to addition and were adding to 10 using numicon.

A big thank you to all our families who came to our open afternoon yesterday. The children enjoyed showing some of their learning from this session so far. We all took part in a special activity where we created hearts to show what Burnhaven means to us. These will be used in a special project that will be revealed later…! Lots of fun was had by all!

🌟Introducing our Burnhaven Pupil Leaders! 🌟

This morning, our P7 pupils delivered their presentations as they put themselves forward for the roles of House Captain and our brand-new School Captain. 🎤👏

It was fantastic to see their confidence, enthusiasm and leadership skills shine through as they shared their ideas with the whole school.

Our pupils then had the very important job of voting for who they felt would best represent Burnhaven and our school values. 🗳️💙

We are delighted to announce our new School Captain, House Captain, Prefects and Library Monitors! 🌟📚

A huge well done to all of our P7 pupils for stepping up and putting themselves forward. At Burnhaven, every pupil has a voice and every pupil has a part to play, and we are so excited to see our new pupil leaders take on their roles.
