We think it’s safe to say their play date in the training paddock was a success…

This is how Vanguard spent International Dog Day: doing what he does best. 💙

Vanguard started his journey with Hounds for Heroes, but when a health condition meant Assistance Dog life wasn’t right for him, he found a different path.

He is now a Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog and visits Ward 10 at Prince Charles Hospital - Ysbyty'r Tywysog Siarl every week, bringing comfort and smiles to patients, staff and visitors.

Vanguard has the kindest, softest soul, all wrapped up in Goldie fluff. He really is the perfect dog for this job, and we are so incredibly proud of him and all the happiness he spreads.

Da iawn, Vanguard. Rydyn ni mor falch ohonot ti! 🐾
(Well done, Vanguard. We’re so proud of you!)

Special visitor Vanguard spent his International Dog Day yesterday doing what dogs do best... giving us their love. 🐾

Vanguard visits Ward 10 at Prince Charles Hospital every week, putting smiles on patient, staff and visitors' faces. Thank you Pets As Therapy and Hounds for Heroes for your continued support! 💙

Treuliodd yr ymwelydd arbennig Vanguard ei Ddiwrnod Rhyngwladol Cŵn ddoe yn gwneud beth mae cŵn yn ei wneud orau... rhoi eu cariad i ni. 🐾

Seeing one of our dogs grow in confidence from puppyhood through to advanced training is incredibly special – especially when each small step could one day make a very big difference 🐾

We’re always looking for people who could open their home and be part of that journey, either as a Puppy Parent or a Full-time Fosterer.

Puppy Parents welcome a puppy into their home, helping them build confidence through everyday life. Full-time Fosterers support a dog through advanced training, providing a loving, stable home and continuing agreed training and routines outside sessions with our team.

Both roles mean regular trips to our training centre in Petersfield for puppy classes or training sessions, so volunteers need to live within travelling distance.

Want to know more? Take a look at our website: https://www.houndsforheroes.com/support-us/volunteer-us/volunteer-our-dogs

Know someone who might be perfect for either role? Please share this post with them.

Big smiles at the start, well-earned medals at the finish! An incredible £2,500 raised for Hounds for Heroes in between. 💪

A massive thank you to the teams at HS Canine Hydrotherapy and Paddock & Paws + Animal Professionals for choosing us as one of the charities to support and taking on all the mud, miles and mayhem of Tough Mudder!

That is a phenomenal total and will make such a difference to our Hounds and the people they go on to support.

Thank you to everyone who took part and to every person who donated and helped them reach such a brilliant total. Those medals could not be more deserved! 💙🐾

Yesterday, Debbie and Di, one of our fabulous volunteer Fosterers, spent a lovely afternoon with Astra at Hindhead Place Care Home, meeting the residents and telling them all about who we are and what we do.

Of course, Astra stole the show, happily taking charge of the meet and greet duties... Just look at that grin! 😂

A big thank you to everyone at Hindhead Place for making us feel so welcome, we loved spending the afternoon with you! 💙🐾

Today is International Dog Day and what better way to celebrate than by introducing you to Jack! 🐾

This very handsome chap has officially begun his journey to become a life-changing Assistance Dog. Wonderfully chilled and laid-back, Jack has already settled beautifully into life with his Puppy Parents.

His name honours Jack the Airedale, a heroic messenger dog who served during the First World War. His courage under fire helped save the lives of an entire battalion.

Those are some big pawprints to fill, but for now, our Jack is taking everything calmly in his stride, with plenty of naps along the way! 😴

Jack’s journey is generously sponsored by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, we’re incredibly grateful to have their support from the very beginning.

A huge thank you, too, to his breeder for giving him such a wonderful start, and to his Puppy Parents for opening their home and hearts and guiding him through these important early stages.

Join us in welcoming Jack by sending him some love in the comments below! 💙

£15,390! What an incredible achievement by the Ladies’ Section at North Hants GOLF CLUB 💙🐾

Allen and ET recently visited the club to thank the ladies and former Ladies’ Captain Debbie Steadman, presenting them with a plaque in recognition of their fantastic fundraising.

The ladies also chose the name Scramble for one of our Assistance Dogs in training. It couldn’t be more fitting – linking a golfing scramble with the RAF command to “scramble”.

The £15,390 raised will support Scramble’s training and care as he works towards a future Assistance Dog partnership.

A huge thank you to Debbie, everyone in the Ladies’ Section and all those who donated, supported their fundraising or helped organise events along the way. You all played a part in raising this incredible amount and supporting Scramble on his journey. 💙

For a small charity, visibility creates opportunity.

Thanks to the generous support of councillors at East Hampshire District Council, we’ll be able to purchase new Hounds for Heroes banners, strengthening our presence at community, Armed Forces and Emergency Services events.

Every conversation they help to start could connect someone with our support, inspire a new volunteer or introduce a future fundraiser or partner to our work. That’s the real impact of being seen.

We’re incredibly grateful to the councillors for helping us reach more people across East Hampshire and beyond. We can’t wait to show you the finished banners.
