We have been called to a field fire in Little Horsted this afternoon along with 5 other fire appliances, 2 Land Rover 4x4 vehicles and the water carrier from Uckfield.

Our appliance used the hose reel jet and beaters to reduce the spread over the fields and then supported the 4x4 with water refills.

Thanks to the local farmers who helped with damping down the hedgerows and creating fire breaks.

All those planning on attending the station tonight for a discussion on joining, please don’t attend.

We are currently at a fire in the open at Abbots Wood and are unlikely to be back at station in time.

Please keep an eye on this page for updates.

Last night we welcomed 7 members of the local community who wanted to find out more about becoming an On call firefighter at Pevensey.

The main purpose of the evening was to discuss their availability hours to see if they will fit in with the crewing gaps and to gain a bit more of an insight into what’s required of becoming a firefighter.

Thank you to all those who attended.

Would you love to help your local community? Live or work within 5 minutes of the station?
Recruitment is open for On-call firefighters able to respond to the alerter during daytime and weekend hours.
Interested? Come to the station on Monday 13th July at 1900 to talk to the Watch Manager and chat to the crew about what is involved.
Full training provided over the 2 year development period, reasonable fitness and swimming ability required.
Being an On-call Firefighter is incredibly rewarding but it requires a commitment from the crew and support from their families so it won't suit everyone.
Please don't apply on our website before coming to the station to discuss the hours you can commit too.
Feel free to drop us a message or better still, write them down and bring them with you on Monday.
