Hot weather warning today so the Chailey Litter Pickers started an hour earlier than usual before it got too hot, and 8 people picked a bag each.
The various Chailey Commons were our targets today - the car parks at Redhouse and Memorial and also Romany Ridge and Pound Commons, and the roads that surround them.
8 bags, including several vodka bottles and a disturbing number of cigarette buts which are alarming as the commons are literally tinder dry. 😟🔥

9 pickers were out this morning, clearing up the A272 and A275 in North Chailey, as well as Beggars Wood Road. Between us we picked 10 bags of rubbish, including a full bottle of Angostura Bitters !! 🤔😵‍💫.

3 of our team have been out today and between them they picked 4 bags starting at the Free Church and concentrating on the roads in S Chailey. 3 others are picking their own areas as they were unable to make the group meeting. Luckily we managed to escape the worst of the rain!

We leave the bags by Lewes District bins and the bin men collect them on their scheduled rounds.

The next group pick is on Friday 17 July from 10.00am starting from the Sports Ground.

Many thanks to four of our Litter Pickers for their hard work on Friday morning at the group pick. In total they picked 8 bags. Find of the day must be the framed oil painting of NYC found at the roadside!
We also found fly-tipping in the Car Park at Redhouse Common and reported it to LDC. 😡
