Are you passionate about protecting children from abuse and neglect?

The NSPCC is looking for volunteers in Plymouth to support our Speak Out. Stay Safe. programme. As a Speak Out. Stay Safe. volunteer, you'll visit primary schools and run memorable, age-appropriate workshops that help children learn how to speak out and stay safe if something is worrying them.

If you are interested in becoming a Speak Out. Stay Safe. volunteer and would like to find out more about the role, the next step is to attend a Volunteer Information Meeting.

This is a great opportunity to:
- Meet with staff and ask any questions you may have
- Learn more about the application process and your volunteer journey

Our meetings are designed to help you decide whether volunteering is right for you. There is no obligation to apply after attending a meeting.

You will also receive information about other ways you can become a supporter of the NSPCC.

The 2026 Plymouth Community Awards celebrate the achievements of people in our community who inspire through their feats against adversity and their tireless dedication to creating change.

A variety of coveted awards will be up for grabs across a range of categories, epitomising the incredible work being done to transform lives and enrich communities daily.

This year's awards will take place on Friday 13th November 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth.

The Plymouth Community Awards is brought to you by YMCA Plymouth.

Eleven libraries across Plymouth now offer blood pressure monitor kits that you can borrow, just like a book, to check your blood pressure at home.

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, often has no obvious symptoms. Many people do not realise they have it until it leads to a serious health problem, such as a heart attack or stroke.

Checking your blood pressure regularly can help identify any concerns early. If your readings are consistently high, seek advice from a healthcare professional, who can recommend any further tests or treatment you may need.

Each kit includes:
- a blood pressure monitor
- cleaning wipes
- instructions on how to use the monitor and take readings
- a blood pressure recording diary
- advice on what to do if your blood pressure is too high

You can reserve a monitor online through the library website or the Plymouth Libraries app and collect it from your chosen library when it becomes available. Alternatively, ask library staff about availability.

The monitors are intended to help you monitor your blood pressure and encourage regular checks. They do not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
