πŸŽ‰ Happy Listening Week – Day 3! πŸŽ‰

Yesterday we had a fantastic time at St Budeaux Library, joining local councillors, families at Rhyme Time, Scrapstore, and the Infant Feeding group.

It was wonderful to see so many people who care deeply about our community taking the time to listen, share their experiences, and help us better understand what children, young people and families need in St Budeaux.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped to chat with us, shared their ideas, and supported the conversations. Every voice helps us build a clearer picture of what's working well and where we can make things even better.

Listening Week is all about hearing from our community, and we're looking forward to more great conversations this week.

If you see us out and about, please come and say hello – we'd love to hear your thoughts!

And if you can't meet us in person, you can still have your say by completing our survey using the link below ⬇️

🐝 Year 2 Positional Language Maths Learning 🐝

Using our Bee-Bots, the children explored how to move forwards, backwards, left and right. They had a fantastic time taking turns to programme the Bee-Bots and guide them around. It was wonderful to see everyone working together, developing their understanding of direction and position through hands-on learning.

Well done, Year 2! 🌟

Reception visit to Year 1 🀩

As part of their transition process this term, our Reception classes visited the Year 1 classrooms. Mr Green and Miss Clarke showed the children their potential classrooms for next year. The children enjoyed spotting the similarities and differences between Reception and Year 1 and they also had the opportunity to practise sitting at the tables. During their visit, they listened to a story and asked lots of thoughtful questions. The children are already looking forward to visiting again later this term!

Last term, Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic celebration trip to Mount Edgcumbe to recognise all of their hard work and dedication during SATs week.

The children spent the day enjoying fun in the sun, sharing a delicious BBQ on the beach and making wonderful memories with their friends. It was a day filled with laughter, whilst making memories with their friends! β˜€οΈπŸŒŠπŸ”πŸ’™

🌟 Year 3 LAMDA Exams 🌟

Year 3 had a wonderful time taking their LAMDA exams today! 🎭✨

πŸ—£οΈWhat is LAMDA?
LAMDA (the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) is one of the UK's most prestigious performing arts examination boards. Through LAMDA lessons, children develop skills in public speaking, communication, confidence, reading and performance.

Taking LAMDA examinations provides children with the opportunity to work towards nationally recognised qualifications while building self-esteem and resilience. The skills gained through LAMDA support learning across the curriculum and help children become confident speakers, effective communicators and enthusiastic performers. 🀩

The children today performed with imagination, confidence and enthusiasm, giving their very best throughout the day. We were delighted to see their excited and proud faces as they returned from their exams. 😊🌈

Every child has been incredible and we are so proud of their hard work, courage and determination. Well done, Year 3, you should all be very proud of yourselves! πŸ‘βπŸ’«

🌟 Young Carers trip to the Immersive Dome 🌟

A small group of Young Carers recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Immersive Dome to watch David Attenborough: Our Story. πŸ’«

The show took them on an incredible journey through the history of our planet, highlighting the beauty of the natural world and the importance of protecting it for future generations. The immersive experience brought the story to life, leaving everyone inspired and full of wonder. 🌍

It was a wonderful opportunity for our young people to take a break from their caring responsibilities, spend time with friends, and enjoy a unique and educational experience together. πŸ’™

πŸ“š Reception Book Hook - Handa’s Surprise 🍎🍌🍍

The children were excited to receive a special letter from their butterflies, who told us all about their travels around the world! πŸ¦‹πŸŒ

To introduce our new story, Handa’s Surprise, the children took part in a fruit-tasting challenge. They enjoyed trying a variety of fruits, including guava, avocado, and passion fruit. The children carefully described the taste of each fruit and discussed whether it was sweet or sour.

We were so proud of how brave everyone was in trying something new! ⭐

The children are already enjoying learning about their new story through Independent Learning, Literacy lessons and adult-guided activities!

☁️🌧️ Year 3 - Making Rain Clouds in a Jar 🌧️☁️

To help the children understand where clouds and rain come from, Year 3 created their own rain cloud in a jar.

First, they filled a jar with water to represent the air and added a layer of shaving foam to act as a cloud. They then carefully dropped food colouring onto the foam. As the β€œcloud” became full, the colouring slowly fell through into the water, just like raindrops fall from real clouds when they become too heavy with water. This exciting experiment helped the children understand how clouds collect water and how rain is formed.

πŸ’¬ Grace: β€œWhen the cloud became full, the coloured water fell as precipitation.”
πŸ’¬ William: β€œThe more coloured water we put through our cloud, the more it changed colour. This is just like in real life when a cloud becomes darker as it gets fuller.”
πŸ’¬ Victoria: β€œAs more precipitation fell, the cloud started to shrink.”

A fantastic hands-on science investigation that brought the water cycle to life! πŸ’§πŸ”¬

πŸŽ‰ Happy Listening Week – Day 2! πŸŽ‰

Yesterday, we had a fantastic time at Victoria Road Primary School. Some of the young people have been specially trained as community listeners and will be out and about across St Budeaux this week, asking questions and gathering views from local residents. If you see them, please stop and say hello!

We also enjoyed speaking with parents and families at Victoria Road Primary and hearing their thoughts, ideas and experiences. Thank you to everyone who took the time to chat with us and to all those who helped make the day such a success.

Today, you'll find us at the Wellbeing Hub and the Library, so come along and say hello – we'd love to hear from you.

If you'd like to take part but can't speak to us in person, you can still share your views by completing our survey using the link below ⬇️
