A huge well done to Linda for her fantastic efforts in not only raising awareness of breast cancer, but also helping to raise an incredible Β£281 for Breast Cancer Now. πŸŽ€πŸ‘

As Lord Mayor of Plymouth, I was delighted to be there and support such an important cause. My thanks to everyone who came along, donated so generously and helped make the morning such a success.

Some of you may have been wondering why I’ve been a little quiet on social media recently.πŸ€”

Well, after having very, very few days off since being inaugurated as Lord Mayor of Plymouth, I decided I needed to take a few days break. ❀️

It has been absolutely amazing representing our wonderful city. The number of invitations, events and warm welcomes I’ve received from so many people across Plymouth has been truly humbling, and I’m incredibly grateful and I have tried to do as many as I can.

But, despite being in a non-political role, recent events have reminded me that there is still a lot of political hostility out there. I’ve unfortunately been subjected to a number of threats and unpleasant comments on social media.

I’m not going to dwell on the negativity, though. Life is far too short, however the busy schedule had left me tired and exhausted and sometimes you simply need to step away, recharge and do something that makes you happy.

So, I treated myself to exactly that… Bloodstock Festival 🀘πŸ”₯

A bad haircut, good friends, a refreshment or two, some absolutely amazing bands, plenty of headbanging and a fantastic few days enjoying some of the music I love. I got to see incredible performances from my fav bands Lamb of God (I had the pleasure of being in the front row), Life of Agony, Saxon and one of my absolute favourites, Black Label Society.

And then something happened that I never thought I’d be doing at 42…

I went crowd surfing! πŸ˜‚πŸ€˜

Maybe not your typical Lord Mayor activity, but being one of the younger Lord Mayor's in the UK and in Plymouths history, I like to think I do things a little differently!

I still have the energy to chase goals, try new things and, most importantly, enjoy life. And being carried through the crowd towards one of my guitar heroes, Zakk Wylde, was certainly an experience I won’t ever forget! 🎸🀘

The break was genuinely needed, but I’m pleased to say normal Lord Mayor duties have now resumed. This week has already been full of events, meetings, emails and, most importantly, getting back out there representing Plymouth.

I’m feeling refreshed, energised and ready to keep doing what I love β€” serving our amazing city and its people.

Sometimes you just need to switch off, re-charge, turn the music up and remember who you are. ❀️

And as much as I loved Bloodstock… it’s good to be back home in Plymouth. πŸ’™βš“

Today, the Deputy Lord Mayor had the pleasure of attending the Plymouth Highbury Trust's 70th Birthday Coffee Morning celebration πŸŽ–, held at Plymouth Highbury Trust on Outland Road.

It was wonderful for the Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Angela Penrose to join everyone in marking this fantastic milestone and celebrating 70 years of the Trust's dedication to supporting people in our community. πŸ’›

The warm welcome, friendly atmosphere, and opportunity to meet so many volunteers, staff, and supporters made for a truly enjoyable morning.

Congratulations to everyone at Plymouth Highbury Trust on reaching this remarkable anniversary. Thank you for your unwavering commitment and the incredible difference you continue to make to the lives of so many people across Plymouth.

A huge thank you to Plymouth Community Builders and especially Natalie Harrison πŸ‘ for organising such a wonderful event. It was fantastic to see so many community organisations coming together ❀️

Events like this truly showcase the very best of Plymouth, with charities, community groups and volunteers working side by side to strengthen our neighbourhoods and support those who need it most. πŸ’™

Myself and the Lord Mayor's Chaplin Steven Bell had the pleasure to have the UK Youth Parliament back, this time for a visit and tour of the Lord Mayor's Parlour and the Council Chamber at the Council House on Wednesday 29th July 2026.

It's always an absolute pleasure to spend time with these fantastic young people. I am incredibly proud to welcome such bright and inspiring young minds.
I genuinely value their company and the fresh insights they bring. They are a real credit to Plymouth πŸŽ–

As always, NO topic was off the table! We had some brilliant discussions, plenty of laughter and a chance to exchange ideas. I have to say, I wholeheartedly agree that Plymouth's famous Spicy Spuds deserve to go UK-wide! 🌢πŸ₯”

That said... there were a few suggestions that had to be a firm "no" – including the idea of settling Council debates with a boxing ring in the Council Chamber! I think we'll stick to democratic debate rather than boxing gloves! πŸ₯ŠπŸ˜‚

One request that is being taken very seriously, however, is the suggestion for the Lord Mayor should have an Instagram account...

It was a real honour, as the Lord Mayor of Plymouth alongwith my guest Caroline Gate, to be invited by 6 Rifle Battalion and The Salamanca Band and Bugles of The Rifles to attend the Rifles Band Celebration of Salamanca Day on Saturday 25th July.

Held at the Exeter Corn Exchange, it was a fantastic event showcasing exceptional musical talent, military tradition and the tremendous professionalism of The Rifles Band. The performance was outstanding, and it was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate this important occasion. πŸ‘πŸŽ΅

A huge thank you to Captain Natalie Waddington and the Lord Mayor of Exeter for their incredibly warm hospitality and kindness throughout the day. Your welcome made the event even more special. πŸ™

Salamanca Day commemorates the Battle of Salamanca, fought on 22 July 1812 during the Peninsular War, where the Duke of Wellington's allied forces achieved a decisive victory over the French. It remains one of the most significant and proudly remembered battle honours in the history of The Rifles, celebrating the courage, skill and sacrifice of those who served. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸŽ–οΈ

πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ It was a great honour and privilege, as the Lord Mayor of Plymouth alongside Cllr Chris Penberthy and the Lord Mayors Chaplin Steven Bell to welcome His Excellency Osman Koray Ertaş, Ambassador of the Republic of TΓΌrkiye to our great city.

I thank him for taking the time to visit Plymouth and for the opportunity to discuss the historic links between TΓΌrkiye and our city, particularly regarding the Ottoman Turkish sailors buried here.

It was a fascinating and meaningful conversation, highlighting the importance of remembering our shared history and strengthening the friendship between our communities.

It was truly fabulous to have the Ambassador in , and he will always receive the warmest of welcomes whenever he returns.

I look forward to seeing these important links between TΓΌrkiye and Plymouth continue to grow for many years to come. πŸ™

πŸŒΏπŸ’š I had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful medicinal garden at Thorn Park Lodge recently and what a hidden gem it is! 🌼🌱

The medicinal garden is a truly unique community space, showcasing a fascinating collection of plants that have been used throughout history for healing and medicine. It sits alongside the Park Pharmacy Trust, celebrating Plymouth's rich pharmaceutical heritage while educating visitors about the important role plants have played in healthcare for centuries. The Trust also preserves historic pharmacy collections and uses the garden as an educational resource for people of all ages.

A huge thank you to Dr Jan Knight for such a warm welcome and for sharing her incredible knowledge and passion. Your dedication, together with the hard work of your volunteers, has created a beautiful community garden that is both peaceful and inspiring. It is a wonderful example of how heritage, education and community can flourish together. πŸŒΊπŸ‘

Last Saturday I had a fantastic day attending the Future Stars Football Club Festival in Victoria Park. 🌟⚽

It was wonderful to see so many young people enjoying football, making new friends and taking part in such a positive community event.

πŸ‘βš½ The festival brought together families, local organisations and volunteers, creating a brilliant atmosphere that truly celebrated the spirit of Stonehouse. ❀️ From football activities and fun games to community stalls, music and refreshments, there was something for everyone to enjoy. πŸŽ‰πŸŽΆπŸ”
