A preliminary magnitude 6.7 earthquake occurred along the Central Mid-Atlantic Ridge at 2:57 PM Montserrat Time (1857 UTC) on Wednesday, 17 June 2026.

According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), based on all available data, there is no tsunami threat to Montserrat from this earthquake. However, there is a very small possibility of tsunami waves along Atlantic coastlines nearest the earthquake's epicentre.

🌫️ Air Quality Update: Thursday, 11 June 2026 – Moderate Conditions Across Montserrat Due to Saharan Dust

Air quality across Montserrat is currently at **moderate** levels due to increased concentrations of Saharan dust particles in the atmosphere.

Based on current observations, PM2.5 concentrations across the island are around **20 µg/m³**, above the guideline level of **12 µg/m³**. While conditions are not considered hazardous, sensitive individuals may experience mild health effects from prolonged exposure.
