GREAT NEWS: The fantastic Plymouth Safe Bus is always available every Saturday from 10pm for anyone on a night out but did you know the bus will also be parked there on extra dates over the festive season? If you need help you can also go to Derry’s Cross tonight from 10pm plus Friday 12th and 19th December, as well as Xmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The bright green mobile treatment and welfare centre offers a safe space for anyone who needs it and no one will be judged. The single decker bus has been running for several years and is parked outside Timbervault Escape Rooms. Medical help is available and the bus can be a meeting point if things don’t go as planned. If you lose your mates or feel vulnerable in some way, your phone is missing or you feel unwell you can use the Safe Bus. Free water and phone charging is available and nearby taxi marshals can make sure you get home safely. OPCC funding helps keep the Safe Bus running and we are also very grateful to the local bus company who park the bus into place.

During the national 16 days of action campaign, each day we will be promoting information to help prevent violence against women and girls. Today's topic is how to get help following r**e or sexual assault.

If you’ve been r**ed or sexually assaulted and don’t want to report to police, you can get help and support from a Sexual Assault Referral Centre or SARC.

They can collect evidence in a controlled environment, to ensure reliability. They can also deal with injuries, clothing fibres and other crucial evidence. SARCs provide a full forensic medical examination.

Survivors deserve care and guidance. SARCs offer emotional and practical support.

If you are thinking of using or have used a self swab kit please be aware that they may not provide reliable evidence.

If you have already used a self swabbing kit, please visit your local SARC or report to police for assistance.

The 'spooktacular' Plymouth Safe Bus team are gearing up for a busy Halloween tomorrow and will make sure those on a night out get support they need – no tricks just treatments. The mobile centre at Derrys Cross is usually parked up on Saturday nights from 10pm until 4am on Sundays but will also be available this Friday to help people in the city and make sure 31 October is not a ‘fright night’. The bright green bus will also be available on extra dates in December – Friday 5,12 and 19 as well as Christmas Eve (Wed 24 Dec) and New Year’s Eve (Wed 31 Dec). If you feel unwell or vulnerable the bus team, including trained medics, can help. The bus is a safe space and around 90% of individuals treated on board the bus are discharged at the scene by medical staff, reducing pressure on police, ambulance, and hospital services. Find the bus outside Timbervault Escape Rooms. Happy Halloween everyone 🦇 👻

PICK UP LINE DIDN’T LAND?
Ah nevermind. Be respectful if the answer’s no. It’s their decision. Remember not to take it personally, just say you understand and move on.

GETTING A BIT HEATED? MATE SQUARING UP?
While it’s a story we can still laugh about, we can keep our mates safe by stepping in if it’s safe to do so and not just standing by, and getting them to walk away.
Make the right choice. Walk Away.
Make sure that time out with mates is remembered for the right reasons.

‘WHAT YOU LOOKING AT?’
Nobody likes being stared at. But when we’ve had a bit to drink we can often glaze over and not pay attention. If someone’s eyeballing you, just ignore it. It’s probably not on purpose
Make the right choice. Walk Away.
Make sure that time out with mates is remembered for the right reasons.

KNOCKED INTO?
Pubs and clubs are crowded. It’s part of the vibe - we wouldn’t go if they were empty. Knocking into someone is almost always an accident even if it’ll leave a bruise. Best thing to do is move to another part of the venue and carry on with your night
Make the right choice. Walk Away.
Make sure that time out with mates is remembered for the right reasons.
