🚨 Search and Rescue isn't made up of superheroes. 🚨

It's made up of ordinary people who choose to volunteer their time to help others.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth is now recruiting trainees for our 2026/27 intake.

Whether you're an office worker, teacher, student, engineer, tradesperson or retiree, what matters most is your attitude.

We'll provide the training.

You provide the commitment.

Together we'll help develop the skills needed to search for missing people, support casualty rescues and assist the emergency services across Dartmoor and the surrounding area.

My name is Alannah & I'm a mountain rescue volunteer for Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team Plymouth (DSRTP).

DSRTP are a charity fully funded by donations from kind supporters like yourselves and completely ran by amazing volunteers.

This year I am going to walk the High Moor Link which runs from Buckfastleigh to Tavistock. This route is around 37km long, covering rough, boggy and hilly terrain over some of Dartmoor's most beautiful landscapes. I've never attempted anything like this before and if you know me, you know how much I hate cardio!

During the walk I will be carrying a full kit bag, which contains everything I have on me whenever we get a call out. All the kit plus water and, most importantly, snacks, this will probably weigh around 10kgs. This will be my toughest challenge yet.

Any amount you can donate to DSRTP and my crazy walk would be much appreciated πŸ™πŸ½

🚨🚨 Call Out 🚨🚨

At 01:15 hours this morning, we had a full team callout to assist a competitor who was struggling to continue in the Manumit Dartmoor 50

Team volunteers, who were assisting with the event and had already completed a long day on the Moors, managed to locate the casualty and provided first aid, whilst other team members brought the stretcher and other emergency equipment that was required.

Thank you to Devon & Cornwall 4x4 for your assistance, not only with the event, but with the call out as well πŸ™πŸ½

The casualty was successfully carried across the Moors to a waiting Landrover, then driven off the Moors.

The team stood down at 06:00 hrs
