Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team - Plymouth Finding loved ones and saving lives in the communities of Plymouth, Dartmoor and surrounding areas.

Our voluntary members are on stand-by 24x7 in support of the emergency services. DSRTP is a professional search and rescue team and registered charity, made up entirely of volunteers from the Plymouth and Dartmoor areas. Our sole purpose is to assist the emergency services with search and rescue operations, locally, regionally and if necessary, nationally 24/7/365. Core specialist skills within th

e team include search management and techniques, emergency medicine, swift water rescue, search dogs and handlers and high-level rope access and rescue. DSRTP is associated with both Mountain Rescue England & Wales (MREW) and The Peninsula Mountain and Cave Rescue Association (Penmacra). As one of 4 such search teams in the Dartmoor area, we are also associated with the Dartmoor Rescue Group (DRG).

All at DSRT Plymouth are deeply saddened to hear the news that three Royal Navy service personnel have died in this morning's Merlin helicopter crash at Sourton, Devon.

Every year we have the pleasure to work with the MOD, Army, RAF and Royal Navy during Ten Tors. We welcome the sight of the Merlins to help us help the participants.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with family and friends at this sad time.

Today our own South West Coast Path completer Vicky went to meet Sam Culley and his cousin Jamie (behind the camera) on the path. Sam is walking all 630 miles of the path for Mountain Rescue England and Wales and has already raised an incredible amount. Please consider looking up his fundraiser on Just Giving. I hope the spiced rum goes down well at the campsite later!
N.B. We wouldn't usually recommend crocs as the coast path footwear of choice but apparently, they were great for crossing the Erme.
