We are absolutely delighted to announce that our Pocklington Fire Station Open Day raised an amazing £1,000 for The Fire Fighters Charity! ❤️

The Fire Fighters Charity provides vital support to serving and retired members of the UK fire and rescue community and their families, helping with physical health, mental wellbeing and social support when it’s needed most.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, bought tombola tickets, visited the stalls and helped make the day such a success. Your support really does mean a lot to us.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to all of the local businesses and individuals who generously donated prizes for our tombola. We had some fantastic prizes this year, and we simply couldn’t have raised this amount without your generosity.

Thank you as well to all of the stalls, organisations and attractions that joined us on the day, many of whom also kindly made donations towards the final total. Your support helped make the Open Day what it was.

We’ve had so much support from across Pocklington and the surrounding area, and we’re incredibly grateful to be part of such a supportive community. 👏

There were so many people and businesses involved that we apologise if we’ve accidentally missed anyone from our thank-yous, please know that every donation, prize and bit of support was hugely appreciated.

Thank you, Pocklington! 🚒❤️

We have seen an increase in what we believe to be deliberately started fires in Primrose Wood, Pocklington.

These fires are extremely dangerous, particularly during the current spell of hot, dry weather. What may seem like a small fire can spread rapidly, putting nearby homes, wildlife and members of the public at serious risk.

Every time we respond to these incidents, it also takes our crews away from potentially life-threatening emergencies elsewhere in our community.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously or starting fires, please report it to the police. If you discover a fire, call 999 immediately.

Please help us keep our community safe by sharing this message and reminding children and young people of the dangers of fire.

July Round-Up 🚒

July was another busy month for Pocklington Fire Station, attending 40 incidents across our area.

🚪 1 - Gain entry
🔔 4 - Automatic fire alarms
🔥 7 - Fire in the open small
🚒 4 - Standby’s
🔥 6 - Building fires
🚓 2 - Assist other avency
🔥 4 - Large vehicle fires
🔥 7 - Large fires in the open
🚗 3 - Road Traffic Collisions
🔥 2 - Small vehicle fires

With the warm, dry weather, we responded to a number of field fires. These can start for a variety of reasons, including discarded smoking materials, disposable BBQs, machinery creating sparks, controlled burns getting out of hand, or even glass left in dry vegetation. During periods of hot weather, fields and crops can ignite and spread extremely quickly. 🌾🔥

These incidents required a huge team effort, and we worked closely with local farmers, whose knowledge of the land and use of water bowsers and machinery proved invaluable. Working in challenging conditions to bring the fires under control and help protect crops and nearby properties. 🚒

It’s also OPEN DAY MONTH! 🎉 We hope you can make it to our open day on 29th August 🚒
