Hi, these little bamboo canes are not wands or dog chews!
They are… knotweed markers!
We’re monitoring the effects of hand cutting the knotweed, compared to using the goats to graze it, or leaving it alone. We’re taking periodic photos from the same angles, marked by the sticks, over the next year, so we’d really appreciate it if they stayed in place 😊

We have decided that the goats are so happy they will be staying for an extra night 😀. They are munching away on knotweed now but they were a little late to the table after becoming engrossed by a stand of blackberries 💚🐐💚.

It's been another great day with the goats, we had to move them again as they ate all the knotweed! We've had lots of visitors to see the goats, the children have loved spending time with them 💚 People have shown real interest in this alternative to using pesticides in the control of invasive species and the goats have been booked for knotweed clearance elsewhere.
We have received advice and funding from NPT Local Places for Nature and will be monitoring this project so that we can share the outcomes.
The goats will be going home to Rumination Ltd HQ around midday tomorrow, they will be returning in September after a well earned rest.

So as you may know the goats are stealing the show this week! However there is so much more going on, the volunteers have been very busy setting up our new mushroom growing project. We also welcomed Flying Start families to the park yesterday, it was lovely to see them enjoying themselves and we hope to welcome them again soon 💚. Thanks to all our volunteers and our lovely community who continue to support our exploits!
