⛔️ Hamworthy’s Weekly Round-Up ⛔️

The crew have been kept busy once again this week, with several heathland fires keeping us all occupied during this warmer period☀️☀️

Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to…

📟 Shouts this week: 6️⃣

♻️ 1 x Recycling / Landfill Fire
🚒 2 x Standby Duties at Poole Fire Station
🌿 3 x Heathland / Moorland Fires (17C1 + 17M1)

🔥 As the weather continues to get warmer and drier, we have been attending lots more heath fires. They can spread incredibly quickly and have a big impact on local wildlife and our communities.

⚠️ Please help us reduce this risk by keeping yourself updated on all of the latest safety advice from DWFireRescue.

Stay safe and have a great week everyone!

🚒 Thank you for having us today 🚒

It was a pleasure to meet the children and teachers at Upton Infant School this morning, where we showed everyone around the fire engine, explaining what our equipment is used for and talking a little bit about some of the types of emergencies that we get called too!

We hope everyone had a great morning and enjoyed practising their aim with our hose reel jet! 🔥

The crew at Hamworthy wish everyone a safe and enjoyable bank holiday weekend🧑‍🚒☀️

⛔️ Weekly Round Up ⛔️

Our brand new Command Support Unit (17C1) has been especially busy this week, assisting with incident management and fire ground communications for over 3 hours on Monday whilst attending a fire at a restaurant in Wimborne, and then mobilised again to a residential fire in Poole in the early hours of Wednesday morning!

‘Shouts’ this week: 5️⃣

🏬 1x Fire Retail/ Public Assembly (17C1)
🚒 2x Standby Duties at Poole Fire Station
🏠 1x Fire Residential (17C1)
🏙️ 1x Alarm High Rise

At our weekly ‘Drill Night’ on Thursday, we were back in our station lecture room learning all about Safe-guarding, which is a very important part of our role in keeping our communities safe and protected. We then finished off the night going back to basics and practicing our ladder pitches up against the drill tower!

⛔️ Weekly Round Up - at Hamworthy ⛔️

Hamworthy firefighters attended 7️⃣ shouts last week!

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

🚗 1 x Vehicle Fire
🚒 2 x Standby Duties at Poole Fire Station
🌿 1 x Heathland fire
🏚️ 2 x derelict building fire (17P1 and 17C1)
💨 1 x Smell of burning

At Thursday’s Drill night, the crew went over to Poole Fire Station to take part in a joint training exercise where we refreshed our skills on how to move and re-position vehicles using a Tirfor winch. This can be a useful skill for when we attend Road Traffic Collisions where the vehicle has rolled over onto its roof.

Thank you for having us Blue Watch Poole Fire Station 💙

🚨 SHOUT 🚨 - significant derelict building fire last night in Poole.

Hamworthy crew were hard at work again last night, shortly after returning home station from a fire on Upton Heath, our Fire engine was mobilised again along with our Command support unit to a large fire in a derelict house on Waterloo Road, Poole.

🚒 As the first two fire engines in attendance, Hamworthy and Westbourne firefighters got to work quickly, committing crews wearing breathing apparatus to tackle the fire and bring it under control. We were soon backed up by the Aerial Ladder Platform from Westborne as well as our colleagues from Wimborne, Poole, Ferndown and Wareham Fire Stations.

👩‍🚒 After being released from the incident, the crew got back to station around 23:30PM and stayed to clean and restock all of the equipment and BA sets used before going home to bed, to make sure we are fully prepared for our next fire call!

Many thanks to the passerby who phoned 999 to report the fire and sent in these photos 🔥

⛔️ Weekly Round Up - at Hamworthy ⛔️

This week has been another busy one for the crew, with much of our time spent helping maintain emergency fire cover across the wider Service area through several standby duties at our neighbouring stations.

Shouts this week: 8️⃣

🌿 2x - Small heathland fires
🚒 3x - Standby duties at Poole Fire Station
🚒 1x - Standby duty at Westbourne Fire Station
🚒 1x - Standby duty at Verwood Fire Station
🚒 1x - Standby duty at Springbourne Fire Station

Whilst not usually making exciting headlines, standby moves are a vital part of keeping fire engines available where they are needed most and ensuring communities continue to receive prompt emergency fire cover.

🧰 Alongside these incidents, the crew also spent time on Thursday refreshing pumping and Safe Working at Height skills during our weekly training night. Regular training is essential to ensure we are always ready for the next emergency call.

💬 Have you seen us out and about this week? Let us know down below ⬇️

Have a great bank holiday everyone,

Stay safe!

❗Potential station closure consultation update❗

We have identified an administrative error affecting paper copies of the consultation questionnaire that were made available at the public events. A question was missing from those paper copies.

The missing question asked whether respondents had any alternative suggestions to the proposals set out in the consultation, including alternatives to fire station closures. The main online consultation questionnaire is not affected.

Although paper responses represent a much smaller proportion of overall consultation responses, we want to ensure that everyone has a full and fair opportunity to comment on this point. We are therefore providing an additional opportunity for any resident, stakeholder or organisation to submit views specifically on alternative options, if you haven’t already done this on the electronic form.

You can do this in three ways:
• by completing a short online form https://customervoice.microsoft.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=WH-wQVPkIU-TNr7TeFhZUXqsixLIZwZBpd63pxIB2pJURTQyVUFGRlZCTlFKU0xESVRXNkZSTUZPVS4u
• by using an updated paper form available at the eight fire stations being proposed for closure
• by emailing your comments to [email protected]

We want to reiterate; no decisions have been made on the potential closure of any station. All responses already received, together with any further comments submitted, will be considered as part of the overall consultation analysis and final decision-making process.

The consultation remains open until 15th May 2026.

We apologise for this error and are taking this action to ensure the process remains fair, transparent and complete.
