Following the closure of the upper floor of Poole Library:
Cllr Andy Martin, BCP Council Cabinet Member with responsibility for Libraries, said:
โContractors working for the Dolphin Centre are beginning work to remove previously identified Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) from the roof space above Poole Central Library.
โSince this RAAC was discovered last year, the library has remained open and safe to visit.
There is no immediate risk to visitors or staff, but customers can expect a noisier environment on the library floor and for the next week there will be some disruption as staff and the contractors make preparations.
โPeople can continue to borrow and return books at the library, and the payment point for council services is operating as usual.
โWeโll continue to review the library environment as the Dolphin Centre carries out works, which will take around one year.
โWe will keep residents fully updated of any change to opening hours or services.
โOther libraries, including Hamworthy, Oakdale, Parkstone, Branksome and Broadstone will continue to welcome users as normal.
โTo keep up to date please check BCP Library social media pages, or call the library before you visit on: 01202 127 100โ
