Training never stops for our volunteer team.

Recently, team members took part in a stretcher handling training session, making the most of some glorious sunshine while sharpening essential rescue skills.

The session covered:
⛰️Manoeuvring a stretcher across awkward terrain.⛰️Stretcher handling on steep ground.⛰️Simple rope systems.⛰️Body belays.⛰️Path finding.⛰️Communication in the field.

Regular training like this helps ensure we are prepared to respond safely and effectively when people need us most in the mountains.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it such a valuable day.

Nid yw hyfforddiant byth yn dod i ben i’n tîm gwirfoddol.

Yn ddiweddar, bu aelodau’r tîm yn cymryd rhan mewn sesiwn hyfforddi trin stretsier, gan wneud y mwyaf o’r heulwen braf wrth fireinio sgiliau achub hanfodol.

Roedd y sesiwn yn cynnwys:
⛰️Symud stretsier dros dir anodd.⛰️Trin stretsier ar dir serth.⛰️Systemau rhaffau syml.⛰️Belâu corff.⛰️Canfod llwybr.⛰️Cyfathrebu yn y maes.

Mae hyfforddiant rheolaidd fel hyn yn helpu i sicrhau ein bod yn barod i ymateb yn ddiogel ac yn effeithiol pan fydd pobl angen ein cymorth yn y mynyddoedd.

Diolch yn fawr i bawb a gymerodd ran ac a helpodd i wneud y diwrnod yn un mor werthfawr.

Congratulations to team member Owen, who has recently qualified as a Rescue 3 Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) Instructor.

Swiftwater and flood rescue is one of the most challenging areas of rescue work, requiring specialist skills, constant training, and the ability to operate safely in fast-moving water and difficult conditions.

This qualification means Owen can now help train and assess Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technicians across the North Wales Mountain Rescue teams - helping strengthen rescue capability throughout the region.

Mountain Rescue is built on teamwork, not just within teams, but between them too. Sharing knowledge, skills, and experience is a huge part of making sure we’re ready when people need us most.

As a self-funded charity, training like this is only possible thanks to public support. Every course, every piece of specialist equipment, and every training session helps keep our volunteers rescue-ready.

If you’d like to support the team and help us continue developing these vital rescue skills, please consider making a donation.

Llongyfarchiadau i aelod o’r tîm, Owen, sydd wedi ennill cymhwyster Hyfforddwr Rescue 3 Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT).

Mae achub mewn dŵr gwyllt a llifogydd ymhlith y mathau mwyaf heriol o waith achub, gan ofyn am sgiliau arbenigol, hyfforddiant cyson, a’r gallu i weithio’n ddiogel mewn dŵr cyflym ac amodau anodd.

Mae’r cymhwyster hwn yn golygu y gall Owen nawr helpu i hyfforddi ac asesu Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technicians ar draws timau Achub Mynydd Gogledd Cymru — gan helpu i gryfhau gallu achub ledled y rhanbarth.

Mae Achub Mynydd wedi ei adeiladu ar waith tîm, nid yn unig o fewn timau unigol, ond rhyngddynt hefyd. Mae rhannu gwybodaeth, sgiliau a phrofiad yn rhan bwysig o sicrhau ein bod yn barod pan fydd pobl ein hangen fwyaf.

Fel elusen sy’n hunangyllidol yn llwyr, dim ond diolch i gefnogaeth y cyhoedd y mae hyfforddiant fel hyn yn bosibl. Mae pob cwrs, pob darn o offer arbenigol, a phob sesiwn hyfforddi yn helpu i gadw ein gwirfoddolwyr yn barod i ymateb.

Os hoffech gefnogi’r tîm a helpu ni i barhau i ddatblygu’r sgiliau achub hanfodol hyn, ystyriwch wneud rhodd.

Over the past two weeks, several members of the team, alongside and , completed a five-day Rope Rescue Operator (RRO) course delivered over two weekends.

Led by the knowledgeable and highly skilled Rob and Robin, the course covered a wide range of rope rescue techniques and systems used in technical rescue environments. The training focused on safe and effective rope work, casualty management, lowering and hauling systems, and operating in challenging terrain.

Working alongside neighbouring teams was a fantastic opportunity to develop skills, share knowledge, and strengthen the working relationships that are so important during multi-team incidents.

A big thank you to Rob and Robin for their excellent instruction, and to everyone involved for a challenging and valuable period of training.

Dros y pythefnos diwethaf, fe gwblhaodd rhai aelodau o’r tîm, ochr yn ochr ag Aberdyfi Search & Rescue Team a Thîm Achub Mynydd Llanberis, gwrs pum diwrnod Rescue 3 Europe Rope Rescue Operator (RRO), a gafodd ei gynnal dros ddau benwythnos.

Cafodd y cwrs ei arwain gan y medrus a gwybodus Rob a Robin, ac roedd yn cynnwys ystod eang o dechnegau a systemau achub rhaffau a ddefnyddir mewn amgylcheddau achub technegol. Roedd yr hyfforddiant yn canolbwyntio ar weithio’n ddiogel ac effeithiol gyda rhaffau, rheoli clwyfedigion, systemau gostwng a thynnu, a gweithredu mewn tirwedd heriol.

Roedd gweithio ochr yn ochr â thimau cyfagos yn gyfle gwych i ddatblygu sgiliau, rhannu gwybodaeth, a chryfhau’r berthynas waith sydd mor bwysig yn ystod digwyddiadau aml-dîm.

Diolch yn fawr i Rob a Robin am eu hyfforddiant rhagorol, ac i bawb a gymerodd ran am gyfnod gwerthfawr a heriol o hyfforddiant.

Last night the team headed out into the rain for rope rescue training.

Working with rope systems is an essential part of mountain rescue, whether that’s lowering stretchers, rescuing climbers, or helping walkers safely down steep and difficult terrain.

Some rope systems are straightforward, while others are highly complex, but regular training means we’re ready to use them when they’re needed most. Because when it’s dark, wet, and windy on the side of a mountain, there’s no time to learn — we need to be ready to respond.

As a completely self-funded team, we rely on donations and fundraising to provide the specialist equipment needed for rescues and training. Rope and rigging equipment is vital to the work we do, and some individual pieces of kit can cost upwards of £700.

If you’re able to support the team, please consider making a donation. Every contribution helps us continue training, responding, and keeping people safe in the mountains.

Aeth y tîm allan i’r glaw neithiwr ar gyfer hyfforddiant achub rhaffau.

Mae gweithio gyda systemau rhaffau yn rhan hanfodol o achub mynydd — boed hynny’n gostwng stretsieri, achub dringwyr, neu helpu cerddwyr i lawr llethrau serth a thir anodd yn ddiogel.

Mae rhai systemau rhaffau yn weddol syml, tra bod eraill yn gymhleth iawn, ond mae hyfforddi’n rheolaidd yn golygu ein bod yn barod i’w defnyddio pan fo’u hangen fwyaf. Oherwydd pan mae hi’n dywyll, yn wlyb ac yn wyntog ar ochr mynydd, does dim amser i ddysgu — mae’n rhaid i ni fod yn barod i ymateb.

Fel tîm cwbl hunangyllidol, rydym yn dibynnu ar roddion a chodi a***n i ddarparu’r offer arbenigol sydd eu hangen ar gyfer hyfforddiant ac achubiadau. Mae offer rhaffau a rigio yn hanfodol i’r gwaith rydym yn ei wneud, a gall rhai darnau unigol o offer gostio dros £700.

Os ydych yn gallu cefnogi’r tîm, ystyriwch wneud rhodd. Mae pob cyfraniad yn ein helpu i barhau i hyfforddi, ymateb, a chadw pobl yn ddiogel yn y mynyddoedd.

Callout

On Wednesday 6th May, a member of the public reported finding an abandoned rucksack beside a stile whilst descending Moel Hebog, in the Beddgelert area.

Concerned that the owner of the bag may have become injured nearby and been unable to call for help, the team coordinators made the decision to deploy a small team at first light on Thursday to locate and assess the rucksack, and to carry out a formal search of the surrounding area.

dog handler and Aberglaslyn team member John attended with search dog Barney, alongside three other Aberglaslyn team members. After a thorough search of the area, the team were satisfied that nobody remained nearby and concluded that the bag had most likely been left accidentally. North Wales Police also confirmed that nobody had been reported missing in the area.

We’d like to thank our volunteers for giving up their time to assist with all types of callouts — it’s never time wasted. This time it was just a rucksack, but we would always rather go out and check than risk leaving somebody out there who may need help.

Galwad

Ar Ddydd Mercher y 6ed o Fai, adroddodd aelod o'r cyhoedd fod o wedi ddod o hyd i sach gefn wedi'i gadael wrth ymyl camfa wrth dwad i lawr o Foel Hebog, yn ardal Beddgelert.

Gan fod bryder y gallai perchennog y bag fod wedi'i anafu gerllaw ac wedi methu galw am gymorth, gwnaeth cydlynwyr y tîm y penderfyniad i anfon tîm bach gyda'r wawr ar Ddydd Iau i leoli'r sach gefn, ac i gynnal chwiliad ffurfiol o'r ardal gyfagos.

Mynychodd trinwr cŵn SARDA Cymru ac aelod o dîm Aberglaslyn, John, gyda'i ci chwilio Barney, ynghyd â thri aelod arall o dîm Aberglaslyn. Ar ôl chwiliad trylwyr o'r ardal, roedd y tîm yn fodlon nad oedd neb gerllaw a daethant i'r casgliad bod y bag yn fwyaf tebygol o gael ei adael ar ddamwain. Cadarnhaodd Heddlu Gogledd Cymru hefyd nad oedd neb wedi cael ei riportio ar goll yn yr ardal.

Hoffem ddiolch i'n gwirfoddolwyr am roi o'u hamser i gynorthwyo gyda phob math o alwada.

What a fantastic day out at the Nefyn Show!

Our team were on hand providing first aid cover, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather - clear blue skies and a brilliant crowd made it a real pleasure to be there.

Thankfully, it was a quiet day on the incident front, with just a few bumps and bruises to take care of - exactly how we like it.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and donated. Your support genuinely means the world to us and helps keep the team going.

And finally…massive congratulations to Vera and Eiliad for winning the carabiner game - well done both!

Ac yn olaf…llongyfarchiadau mawr i Vera ac Eiliad am ennill y gêm carabiner - da iawn chi!

We’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but that doesn’t mean things have slowed down…

So far this year, the team has responded to a significant number of callouts across the area, as well as assisting neighbouring team Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team

From lost walkers to injured hikers, it’s been a busy start to the year, and as always, our volunteers have been ready to respond at all hours, in all conditions.

As we head further into the season, we’d like to remind everyone to plan ahead, check the weather, carry the right kit, and know your limits. A little preparation can make all the difference.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Rydym wedi bod ychydig yn dawel yma yn ddiweddar, ond nid yw hynny'n golygu bod pethau wedi arafu…

Hyd yn hyn eleni, mae'r tîm wedi ymateb i nifer sylweddol o alwadau ar draws yr ardal, yn ogystal â chynorthwyo tîm cyfagos

O gerddwyr coll i gerddwyr anafedig, mae wedi bod yn ddechrau prysur i'r flwyddyn, ac fel bob amser, mae ein gwirfoddolwyr wedi bod yn barod i ymateb ar bob awr, ym mhob tywydd.

Wrth i ni fynd ymhellach i'r tymor, hoffem atgoffa pawb i gynllunio ymlaen llaw, gwirio'r tywydd, cario'r cit cywir, a gwybod eich terfynau. Gall ychydig o baratoi wneud yr holl wahaniaeth.

Diolch i chi, fel bob amser, am eich cefnogaeth barhaus.
