We’re currently looking for Coastguard Rescue Officers to join our teams!

HM Coastguard is the UK’s 999 maritime and coastal emergency service. Our Coastguard Rescue Service is made up of volunteers who carry out rescues and help those in distress around our coast. As a volunteer coastguard rescue officer, you could be involved in a range of situations, from mud, cliff and water rescues to searches for missing people. As a volunteer you will not be paid. You can claim a small amount for your time and expenses.

Volunteering with us is a rewarding role that supports and gives back to your local community. You can make a real difference and help to save lives. For more information about the Coastguard Rescue Service or to apply to become a volunteer.

🚨 Taskings 39 to 45: September and October 2025 🚨.

Our team has been hard at work responding to various taskings across the area recently. We have a large patch, covering everything from the busy River Avon and Portishead, along the coast, and up to Severn Beach! 🌊🚤
We're incredibly proud of our dedicated team. A massive thank you to all involved for their professionalism, commitment, and expertise.

A great evening search and rescue exercise. Many thanks to HMS FLYING FOX, Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team and all involved for a brilliant night of searching, Casualty care, Sharing skills and knowledge with each other.

🚨 Tasking 38: Thursday, 11 Sep 2025 16:16 UTC 🚨. Severn Beach.

Shortly after arriving back at the station and packing up we were tasked to assist South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust with a casualty who had a suspected broken ankle near the sea wall.

A huge thanks to all involved for their commitment and expertise.

🚨 Tasking 37: Thursday, 11 Sep 2025 13:26 UTC 🚨. Sea Mills.

We were tasked to assist the Avon and Somerset Police with a missing person search. Fortunately the person was located swiftly and the team were stood down.

"🌟 Training in Action 🌟 Last Monday (8th Sept), we joined forces with our brilliant colleagues from Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team for a joint water rescue exercise! 🌊

The 13m high tide brought an extra layer of challenge, with water levels higher than the Marine Lake's sides, and poor night time visibility added to the complexity 🔍

Huge thanks to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication! 🙏💦 We're proud of our teams for rising to the challenge and working together seamlessly. 👏

🚨 Tasking 36: Sat, 6 Sep 2025 10:47 UTC 🚨. Portishead Marina.

We were tasked alongside RNLI Portishead and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to assist a casualty onboard a yacht competing in the Holms Challenge following a Mayday call. Six Coastguard officers and the Coastguard Rescue 187 helicopter were deployed.

A huge thanks to all involved for their commitment and expertise.

Today is Emergency Services Day, a special opportunity to honour all those who work tirelessly to care for us and protect our safety.

As one of the UK’s emergency services, HM Coastguard stands ready round the clock to help anyone in difficulty at sea or on the coast.

While our staff in operations rooms answer 999 calls and coordinate the response to a variety of incidents, we have our helicopter crews in the sky and our coastguard rescue officers on the ground, rescuing people and saving lives.

We are grateful for everyone in the emergency services and can never thank you enough for your service 💙
