Community Contact Points are pop-up events where you can speak to an officer from your neighbourhood policing team to report a crime or an incident or discuss issues affecting your community.
These are drop-in style events with no need to make an appointment.

Please come along as this is your opportunity to speak with your local officers to discuss any issues of concern to you.

The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) are running the iQFOiL Worlds Championships here in early September, and are promoting water sports in the local community.

There is a weekend for race official tasters on 4th & 5th July 2026.

Please see the details below - the QR code on the poster can be used for anyone to book - these places are are free of charge.

The works on the Tennis Courts at Victoria Gardens is now complete and the courts are open for play - just in time for the better weather and start of Wimbledon!

Renovation works have all been completed consisting of:
- Entrance path lowered to sit level with the gate making the facility fully accessible
- Both courts have been remarked
- Brand new tournament regulation posts and nets
- New fence and gate

The new facility looks fantastic and is a great asset to the island and is free for all to use - we hope you enjoy using them.

Dorset Council - Grants of £1000 - 5000 to improve local facilities and spaces

Funding is now available for community groups across the Dorset Council area to improve their local facilities and spaces.

Grants can help with a range of initiatives, including:

- enhancing or renovating village halls and other community buildings
- creating facilities such as car parks, play areas, and multi-use games areas
- upgrading theatres, sports clubs, pitches and outdoor spaces.

Not‑for‑profit organisations are invited to apply for grants of between £1,000 and £25,000 through Round 7 of the Capital Leverage Fund.

It is open for applications from 5 May 2026 until January 2027.

FREE DBS check service is back - Volunteer Centre Dorset

Volunteer Centre Dorset are restarting their free DBS checks for small voluntary and community organisations based in the Dorset Council area.

Organisations will pay a 1-off registration fee of £30 and are able to access up to 12 DBS checks annually. For more information and to register for the service please email:
