We marked Firefighters Memorial Day today, Monday, 4 May, honouring those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

As the Service reflected, it also recognised the commitment of serving firefighters, who continue to protect communities across Scotland every day.

Extreme wildfire warning for the whole of Scotland 🔥

There is an extreme risk of wildfire across the whole of Scotland from today until Saturday, 2 May.

We know many people across Scotland will be wanting to enjoy the good weather across the bank holiday weekend. We ask that everyone does so responsibly.

Wildfires have the potential to destroy property, landscapes and wildlife. All it takes is one spark to spread, causing a large amount of damage.

Remember, there’s no such thing as a 'harmless' fire.

Ethan who is an on-call firefighter in Raasay will be running the Loch Ness Marathon in September in support of the firefighters charity.

The firefighters charity provide lifelong support to fire service personnel and their families. They do vital work to help firefighters including physical rehabilitation and mental health support. They’re an incredible organisation and every donation helps them to continue offering their support

His target is £400. Please give if you can.

Skye on call crews recently teamed up with our colleagues from Portree RNLI Lifeboat for a joint training exercise. The Trent‑class lifeboat Stanley Watson Barker (ON 1214) is based at the Portree RNLI Lifeboat Station, and it was launched from Portree Pier to the Isle of Raasay carrying Fire Service crew and equipment to support a simulated incident on Raasay.

This scenario allowed us to test resilience, strengthen operational readiness, and highlight the importance of working closely with our multi‑agency partners.

A hugely successful day of collaboration, shared learning, and teamwork and we couldn’t have asked for better weather to carry it out.
Our thanks to everyone involved for making this valuable training possible.

Are you a crofter or land manager intending to do a falasgair/controlled burn?

To avoid false alarms and crews being sent out unnecessarily, there are five steps you should follow.

1️⃣Call our Fire and Rescue Control Room on 01382 835804 in advance and notify us of the location of your intended burn, your address, postcode, and best access point.

2️⃣Have a burn plan in place.

3️⃣Have sufficient people in place to manage the burn, keep the size of the burn manageable, check wind speed and direction and ensure you have adequate fire breaks to prevent unwanted spread.

4️⃣If the fire gets out of control, call 999 immediately asking for Fire Service and notify us of address, postcode, and best access point.

5️⃣Always ensure your fire is completely out before you leave it and reattend the next day to ensure it is fully extinguished.
