Young Person Spotlight | MATILDA🧡
Matilda joined us over the summer for work experience and we’ve absolutely loved having her as part of the Next Gen team.

From the beginning, she showed real work ethic, enthusiasm and dedication, getting stuck into a huge variety of projects across the organisation.

During her time with us, Matilda has supported the planning of Next Gen Live at Portsmouth Guildhall, explored our TikTok and video content, reviewed delivery materials and helped us plan future blog content.

She’s taken on new challenges, brought her own ideas to the table and gained an insight into the different areas that go into running a youth-focused organisation.

We’re incredibly proud of the way she has approached her work experience and the contribution she’s already made to the team.

As she heads into her next chapter studying Politics, English Language and PE, we’re excited to continue supporting Matilda alongside her studies and see where her journey takes her🤩

One of our favourite sayings at Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC, and one that sits at the heart of what we do.

Change starts when we’re willing to do things differently and take those first steps towards something better. Whether that’s creating new opportunities for young people, stepping outside of our comfort zones or choosing to believe that things can be different, progress starts with action.

We can’t expect different outcomes if we keep doing the same things, and sometimes the smallest steps can make the biggest difference.

Keshia had the honour of speaking at this year’s Hampshire Constabulary Black History Month BEAM event, alongside an inspiring group of people committed to making a difference 🤝

It was a privilege to be in a room with individuals who are using their experience and leadership to help create safer, more inclusive and diverse communities. From important conversations around representation and equality to the work being done to drive positive change, events like this are a reminder of how much can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose.

A pleasure to share the space with Chief Constable Alexis Boon, former Metropolitan Police DCI Clive Driscoll, Sarb Athwal Founder of True Honour, and Thomas Doughty Head of Leadership & Talent Development, alongside so many other inspiring individuals.

At Politely Rebellious Next Gen CIC, we believe that creating positive change starts with people being willing to have conversations & take action. That includes building communities where every young person feels safe, represented and able to access opportunities, regardless of their background or circumstances.

We’ve had the lovely Cerys and Evie in the office with us lately, and we love seeing our young people recommending Next Gen to the people closest to them!

Tre, who was part of our last VOYCE cohort, clearly thinks highly of what we do, as he’s sent both his sister and his girlfriend our way😆

Leah has been working with Evie to build her social media presence as she continues developing her skills and qualifications as a trainee tattoo artist, helping her showcase her work and build towards her future career.

Cerys has been working with us on her next steps to find a placement for her animal care apprenticeship, and this is where our network can make a real difference:

Meet Next Gen Role Model Nerijus Balsys 🎥 Nerijus Balsys

Ned is a creative entrepreneur and storyteller who helps businesses build their presence through strategic storytelling, authority content and film. As the founder of Metropolis Visual and Ocean House Studio, his work focuses on helping people and organisations communicate their ideas and stand out.

Through his work in video production, content and business, Ned has developed a strong understanding of the importance of creativity, communication and personal brand. He works with businesses to turn their knowledge and ideas into content that connects with their audience and creates lasting impact.

As a Next Gen Role Model, Ned brings his experience as a business owner and creative professional to help young people understand the opportunities available within creative industries, business and entrepreneurship.

He is passionate about sharing his knowledge, encouraging young people to think creatively and showing them that there are many different routes into successful careers.

Ned’s mentorship is centred around helping young people build confidence in their ideas and understand how creativity and consistency can help them create their own opportunities🎙️

At the heart of what we do is a simple belief that young people need role models, and our city needs more of them🏙️

We believe in local legends who can use their own lived experience to help guide the next generation. It is about creating genuine connections between young people and adults and giving young people the chance to learn from people who have been there before.

These relationships can open doors, raise aspirations and help a young person see what is possible for them. This is what Empowering the Next Generation means to us!

We also want to say a huge thank you to #📸 for capturing these photos. Dan is an incredible young person who is building his own skills and business as a photographer, and we are proud to have him on the team for this project📸

This shoot brought together some of the people who make Next Gen what it is and we cannot wait to share more 🖤

Young Person Spotlight | KAYODE

Kay first came to Next Gen looking for mentorship and support as he built his career paths and explored what could come next.

Through this time working alongside the VOYCE team, Kay has developed his confidence, professional skills and understanding of how he can turn his own interests and skills into opportunities.

He’s learnt how to monetise his social media presence and music career, developed his personal brand, started working towards setting up his own business and gained experience across a range of youth-led projects with Next Gen.

Alongside this, Kay has continued to develop his career in music and build connections through the opportunities available to him.

And now, he’s secured a new opportunity as a Brand Ambassador👏

We’re so proud to see how far Kay has come and, most importantly, that he’s continuing to build his own path and create opportunities for himself⭐️
