Portsmouth Mediation And Assessment Service

Portsmouth Mediation And Assessment Service PMAS is a registered community charity that works tirelessly to resolve disputes and conflict within Portsmouth and the surrounding area.

Portsmouth Assessment Service was established in 1996 as a registered community charity, and has worked tirelessly to resolve disputes and conflict within Portsmouth and the surrounding area. We strongly believe that your quality of life, at home and in your community, should not be compromised by dispute or conflict. We use Mediation, a form of alternative dispute resolution in which impartial Me

diators listen to the concerns of the parties involved and then empower them to explore ways forward. The outcomes are surprisingly successful and generally less stressful than other options. In addition to this, we also offer Restorative Justice services and seek to promote Portsmouth as a 'Restorative City'. We welcome enquiries from members of the general public, businesses and organisations who may benefit from our many years of Mediation experience.

Congratulations! this is Brilliant News!!

It demonstrates again the power of Relational & Restorative Practice which was central to Portsmouth’s outstanding inspection outcome - making services consistently relationship-based, collaborative and strengths-focused.

Good to see how practitioners built trusting relationships with children and families, used respectful and non-blaming conversations, and involved families and their networks in understanding concerns and agreeing plans. This supported sustained change, reduced escalation of need, and kept children’s voices central to decision-making.

This is what a Positive Restorative Culture looks like!

🏆 Outstanding news for Portsmouth! 🎉

Portsmouth City Council's children's services has been rated Outstanding in all four areas by Ofsted.

The inspection recognised the exceptional support provided to children, young people and families across the city, and the positive impact of Portsmouth's one-Council approach to helping care-experienced young people thrive.

A huge thank you to our staff, foster carers, schools, partners, and the children and young people who continue to help shape our services.

The Waterfront Restorative Approaches Partnership (WRAP) in Portsmouth is a multi-agency partnership whose overarching aim is:
To make Portsmouth's waterfront and public spaces safer, more welcoming and more connected by using restorative approaches that build relationships, prevent harm and engage young people positively, rather than relying solely on enforcement.
Its work has grown from a response to anti-social behaviour around the Hotwalls and Camber Dock into a broader partnership covering the Southsea seafront.

A key member of The WRAP is Katy Sexton an Olympic Swimmer and World Champion (2003); in recent years Katy has become a Champion of water safety and we are pleased to share her advice here.

There is growing concern about the safety of some of our young people jumping off the Camber Dock into a working port with the danger of Isle of Wight Ferries. We do want to urge parents to discourage your children from diving off the Camber.

Portsmouth Mediation Service (PMS) just want to say a huge thank you to Steve Lowe from Game Over who hosted our Team Meeting at his exciting new development in the Bridge Centre, Fratton.

Electric Dreamz will be an interactive exhibition centre showcasing technology and consumer electronics from the 1970s to the turn of the century. Displayed will be the gadgets and devices we use to use such as video recorders, personal stereos, calculators, Hi-Fi equipment, digital watches, televisions, radios, toys, video game consoles, computers and anything else memorable from this era. This will all be complimented by associated ephemera and multimedia.

All of this will be accompanied by an in house Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based training facility offering super curricular activities outside the educational system. It will give our local young people access to resources for the practical side of engineering, from simply being able to wire a plug and basic mechanics to fault finding, diagnostics through to maintenance and repairs. All these activities are inclusive, so will provide the participants with the opportunity to socialise, interact, engage, develop and expand.

At PMS we love people with BIG Vision and a ‘can do spirit’ Steve combines these qualities with great tenacity and perseverance. Look out for Electric Dreamz opening in the late Summer.
