Anyone know who owns this bike as I certainly don't think it's this guy. Although it stood up quite well to the attack with a shovel they might need a new lock. Difficult to identify the offender as, sadly, there's no face visible. 5.15pm today...

NEWS FLASH!! Turns out they are now going to also resurface the closed part of Castle Rd. A surprise to many ... as long term we hope to level and landscape with a pedestrian scheme. And especially as the fibre optic company surveying last month will shortly dig it back up again...... But it will be a safer surface for play, cyclists, scooters, skateboards and walkers, and will just look nicer.
This is happening Friday 12th ( tomorrow) tarmacking completed Monday. Apparently road markings have to be put back down as a temporary measure but we are trying to negotiate this.
On a good note though PCC have scheduled the remaining works, the extra bollards, planters, pedestrian signage and loading bay markings to be in place by 12th April. To align with government relaxing of lockdown rules, trading, shoppers etc.

Can all Traders please read this traffic order carefully and stick to the rules for your customers, deliveries and contractors. It was posted on the lamp posts for all to see in Aug - Sept. And openly talked about.
Entery by, waiting, loading etc in the North section, outside Montys/Nings to Pie & Vinyl/ and opposite. If you must on special occasion use the old parking space between planters. Do not use the roadway.
Blocking the driveway to the residents in the side road is not acceptable, contravenes the traffic order from PCC and is causing distress to our neighbours, who need access to their home 24/7.
Mounting the pavements to access is causing a great deal of friction and is unnecessary and illegal as well as being very dangerous crossing peoples doorways. As is idling your engine filling business and residents premises with noxious fumes.
We are pushing for PCC to improve signage and enforce more rigorously with the traffic wardens, but in the meantime please respect our neighbours.
This was rightly raised again at the Area Residents Association and by the Castle Rd South Neighbours & Traders Association were this was also posted back in August. There is no excuse, and is causing undue friction between the businesses and residents.

On behalf of Castle Rd South Nieghbours and Traders Association and Castle Rd Area Residents Association.

Our good friends from Strong Island telling it how is.

Local Counts // Not Discounts: I originally wrote this message quite a few years ago now and it still stands the same to this day. We want to let all our customers, followers and friends (new & old) know we will not be following suit with extended Black Friday offers at Strong Island Clothing Co. If you have made a purchase recently (and we thank everyone that has stayed true to local independent shopping) you will not be disappointed by a sudden flurry of discounts that would devalue your purchase.
⠀⠀
We will also stand firm at full price during the whole Christmas period, so rest assured anything you have bought will not all of a sudden be discounted running up to Christmas Day. Our products are for life, or at least as long as they will carry you. Many of our tees are still out there after nearly a decade. Sure they might now be relegated for decorating or sleepwear, but they have not made landfill and that’s very important in such a fast paced consumer climate. Buy once. Buy well. Be happy.
⠀⠀
We hope you understand as we feel it is integral for small businesses to stand their ground and not devalue their business or brand with routine sales and offers, especially after a very tough year for a lot of us. Many of you have read this message over the years and the feedback has always been really well received and I will always stand my ground to this point.
⠀⠀
The first Saturday of December also marks national Small Business Saturday. It's not easy to run a small business and the support from local communities means more than most people might realise. From the smallest one off purchase, to becoming a repeat customer, small businesses can thrive with local support. Take your time this season when you're out and about as there are dozens of amazing independent shops, markets and even online retailers within Portsmouth & Southsea alone.

Thanks for your ongoing support as always. Especially during the Christmas season. It means a lot to all of us at Strong Island.
